Beautiful hotel on the beach and near the town. People were very friendly and breakfasts was great! There are 2 restaurants sushi and normal food at the hotel (a little bit more money). And lots more in the town (some quite cheap restaurants). Stayed for 2 weeks and in that time enjoyed deep sea fishing, volcano trip, hot springs trip,... more

We were very excited to stay in this hotel until we got there. The villa though very large only had air conditioning in the bedrooms so the large living area was so hot and humid we couldn't even enjoy it. Beds were okay but the air unit is right above your head and blows cold air on you. We ended... more

Ours is a mixed review. We arrived late due to a 3 hour delay at Gatwick, but still got a warm welcome. We were assigned room 319, which is one of a block of 4 - 317-320. Although the rooms are nice and big, with a huge sunken bath, the patio which extends to about 6 feet wide and 20... more

I attended a wedding in Costa Rica in March 2008. The wedding party stayed at Cala Luna. We reserved 5 private villas with swimming pools and loved every second of it. The staff were great, the restaurant was fabulous, and the resort is a short walk to the beach. The walk into Tamarindo might be a bit long for some... more

This is small but great hotel only a few minutes walk from a wonderful and quiet beach. The staff are very friendly and there is an excellent small Sushi restaurant and bar within the hotel. When we arrived we were disappointed to find construction work right next to the hotel rooms which was noisy. Most of the villas are away... more

The hotel is a PIT! We changed rooms 3 times because of bugs and air conditioning problems. After 3 moves, we decided we'd live in the a/c bedroom and accept the fact the rest of the villa was not air conditioned. The management keeps moving people from villa to rooms to villa with no intention of repairing the a/c units.... more

Stayed here with 2 friends in January of 08. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised to learn that we had been upgraded from a standard room to a private villa, which included a huge kitchen/living area, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and our own private pool. Having the private villa made our stay unbelievable! We did not have to get... more

We recently returned from the Cala Luna, a very pleasant hotel - in fact an oasis from Tamarindo which is currently a giant construction site with high-rise apartment blocks springing up all around the town. Unless you like views of cranes, loud hammering and banging, and endless heavy trucks streaming through town tearing up the roads, don't go to Tamarindo!... more

I stayed at the Cala Luna Hotel for 2 nights in March. The food was excellent, the service was great and the rooms very very nice. It is very relaxed (no night clubs or loud music) which was exactly what i was looking for. It is about a 15 minute walk from town or a 2-5 minute cheap cab ride.... more
