I loved my experience at the hotel! The staff were very attentive, the service was great, and the food in the restaurant was delicious and fresh. The hotel has great room rates as well as clean rooms, mine had cable TV, a/c, patio, bathtub (a rarity in the area) and high ceilings! I was really surprised at how much less... more

My son and I stayed here for two nights in early June. We arrived after a long five hour drive, the last couple of hours in the rain, from Arenal. We parked our car and ran inside to check in. Beatriz, the front desk clerk couldn’t find our reservation and asked for our confirmation. My son ran back to the... more

The hotel is average at most. After staying in some beautiful lodges around Costa Rica, Mono Azul was a bit of a disappointment. Rooms are very simple, almost bare, bungalow - type, staff could be described as not interested - you get the feeling that if they do anything for you it is to get a tip, not to genuinely... more

Thank you so much for you comments! We did not know about Trip Advisor and the ability to respond to customers reviews. We are so glad that we can read the reviews because we now have a way to improve our services. We did not know that our employees were at times not interested in our guests. Because of your...

Mono Azul has large clean rooms, a pool, a library, and the best internet service we experienced in Costa Rica. The restaurant is also adequate, and its close to an art gallery, and other good restaruants. Its also next to a bus stop and is a 25 cent ride away from Manuel Antonio. It is a 20 minute walk away... more

I previously stayed at Mono Azul in 2005. At this time it was great for one reason: No one bothers you. I choose Mono Azul over the other pricy hotels. This time we thought we visit again since we like the service or the lack of for the matter (Don't take it the wrong way....we just like to stay in... more

Thanks so much for your review. We understand your concern about the prices for breakfast. We do have items on the menu that do not cost as much to make as some of our other items, such as pancakes, fruit plates, French toast, granola, all of which are under $4. You can get a Continental Breakfast for $4.40 which includes...

After reading all the reviews before the trip, I expected Mono Azul to be wonderful... I was wrong. I had booked the tower room for three nights. It had two bathrooms, three beds and a full kitchen. Sounds wonderful until you get there. There is a gate that separates the tower from the rest of the villas, but was never... more

Thanks so much for your review. We just read it and immediately went to the “Tower” to try to fix the problems. We agree with you about the bathroom downstairs and we are going to redo it right away. We are also going to put in a separate entrance for the second bedroom and inform people that it does not...

This is a great hotel if you're not going to be spending a lot of time in your room. The restaurant and shop at the front are wonderful; I recommend eating here if you're not going to stay. The location is very good, in the hotel row with all the other hotels. The price is good. The layout of the... more

Thanks so much for the review. We have tried everything with the government to make the road a safer place to cross. We have had the community sign a petition for speed bumps, we have asked to have permission to build an overhead bridge to cross from both sides of the road for pedestrians, we have asked for a cross...

I've stayed here twice - first with my mother in a room and a second time with a group of college students in the villas. It's a great value, some nice amenities like pools and a restaurant in the hotel. The local bus stop to Manuel Antonio and to Quepos is very close, so you don't need a car. The... more

I stayed there with my parents on my third trip to the area (in the Spring of 2006). The room was very basic and the restaurant was decent. The pool was nice too. Overall a great value. It is located on the road between Manuel Antonio and the town of Quepos. As a result, you can not walk to much.... more

I stayed at the Hotel Mono Azul with my boyfriend in one of the villas. The rooms were fairly sparse by US standards (tile floors, minimal linens) but very large and colorfully decorated. The villa was actually two separate rooms, each with a bathroom and tv, one of which functioned as the master bedroom, while the other had a kitchen/dining... more
