We booked the rooms over bid2stay.co.za, where you can bid on the rooms. Got the rooms quite cheap, less than 500 rand per room per night excluding breakfast. This hotel has a good location with it been only approximately a 15 minute walk from the V & A Waterfront. However be warned although it is named the "City Lodge V & A Waterfront...." it is most definitely NOT within the Waterfront and sits by a main road junction/interchange leading to the waterfront. Stayed at this hotel as part of a group in early October for 3 nights. Loved the location so close to the V&A Harbour with shops and restaurants (recommend Hildebrandts for good food and service) and internet cafe. It is wise to take a taxi the short distance back to the hotel after dark, even if you are not alone.... more

Our five year old brought us a syringe with a blood encrusted needle within minutes of entering the room. The manager said it was probably a diabetic and we fought for half for another hour. Found more belongings in second room. Filthy, stank of sweat and we were too scared to remove our shoes. Avoid!! more

I would advise anyone going to Cape Town to stay near The V & A Waterfront which is where all the best restaurants are and a safe place to be in the evening.
