I just spent one week at this spa with some friends and I am definately going to book another trip within the next six months. The spa treatments were great and the people were accomodating and friendly. Tipping is a nightmare. Bring dollars in small denominations and tip for your services as you go. We tipped at the end and... more

I've been going to Spa Ixtapan with a group of girlfriends since 1997, and every year we can't wait to go back. It was a funky old place when we started, but there are noticeable improvements every year, including a fancy new spa facility that opened about a year ago. It's family owned (third generation) and there is a communal... more

I have been here 3 times and this was the first time I tried the new Holistic Spa which is every bit as good as any I've visited in the US. I noticed many changes at Ixtapan: staff spoke much better English than in the past, food was more varied and lunch served now poolside as well as indoors, more... more

I just returned from a great week at the Spa! I've read the reviews... but here are some small details that may help you out! 1. The beds are very hard. I brought my own pillow, but next time I will bring mattress foam. I'll either pay the extra fee for luggage to transport it, or cut down on my... more

Had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel last week with my two sisters and mom and would definitely return in the future. The last several reviews posted before our trip did make me a little leery about what to expect but we did not encounter any major problems at hotel and would definitely reccommend this spa vacation to friends... more

I just returned from Ixtapan March 9,2008 and was truly scared of what I might encounter after reading the reviews. The hotel was clean. It was safe. It is in need of some updating but it did not ruin my time. The staff was friendly and helpful other than the language barrier, but English is not their native language. The food... more

I booked this trip more than 7 months ago, yet when I arrived they gave me a room in one of the villas rather than the main hotel. The villa rooms are HORRIBLE. My toilet was leaking from the tank and the decor is circa 1950 with no updating--except for the mattresses. The bed was so hard I actually looked... more

ok, the rooms are outdated, the beds hard as a rock, the pillows miniature and the outdoor bathrooms smelled like outhouses.......but there were some nice things ! the staff were pleasant and eager to accomodate you, if you could find one who understood english! the ride to and from mexico city was long (2 hours) and expensive utilizing their transportation... more

Upon arrival we found out there were guest unable to check out due to bad weather at home and they were over booked. We were housed in rooms away from the main hotel building. They smelled and were worse than a Motel 6! I'd say a Motel 3! Everyone at this spa is over 70 except for the staff! I... more

The hotel staff was unpleasant, the rooms looked like motel 6, and they were dishonest in their approach on how much the room cost. My maid asked me for an extra $10 after giving her on average $5 a day. She proceeded to tell me she was paid 400 pesos a week ($40) for work sunup to sundown. The management... more
