O Hotel is pretty small and pretty friendly for a downtown hotel. It's not perfect, but I'm still giving it five stars for the vibe. The staff was incredibly helpful in little details - like a late night martini when the bar was closing down, or printing out a boarding pass while we were out. The room was small but... more
The Orchid Hotel or now the O Hotel is a city centre hotel in the heart of LA. The best thing about this property is its location to the metro or macys! The property has been refurbed but is still lacking in many ways. The Rooms..............are small, odd lighting, dodgy tv, The Bathroom...........is their one????? The Stafff................untrained, dizzy, unhelpful and... more
The "O" was clean and the beds were comfortable. When they quoted a rate of $162 we knew not to expect it to compare to the more upscale places charging $250 -$275. But still, I doubt we would stay there again. While the hotel only opened last year after they renovated an old building to make it "look trendy" the... more
I just got back from this hotel on Tuesday. Pluses- Location is EXCELLENT. Right across the street from an IHOP, Cold Stone, and Ralph's grocery. Not that I'm always in the mood for moderate style meals, but having these CONVENIENCES across the street was a big plus in my opinon. And I could walk to the Fashion Market Center (I... more
Everything was so brand new, I don't think anyone touched this room before. The hotel is super clean. The bedding is very comfortable of high quality fabric. Although normally I don't like modern style architecture, the Orchid has a nice Japanese modern ambience. Our room was one of the smaller ones, but overall a good value compared to the junky... more
I needed an overnight place to stay near Staple Center as I was going to a concert there. While it IS in walking distance, I wouldn't recommend it at night. As a single female I was very concerned about finding a hotel that I'd feel safe in. I felt VERY safe. The staff at the O was SO friendly. They... more
I found this Outstanding Hotel on the Expedia and to be honest was concerned with only 2 rewiews (one negative and one positive) but the reviews being a year apart i'm glad i stayed at this hotel. Rewiews are personal taste but if you're looking for accomodation that is well priced for Downtown LA this is ideal. I wanted something... more
Stayed at the Orchid Hotel in January 2008. Booked cheap via a web discount. Rooms are 'trendy' - but to me seemed a bit cell-like. Colours are all grey and white. A bit depressing really. And our window view - close up onto a wall - was not the best. The rooms are small and without a proper bathroom or... more
this is a true "little gem" of a hotel hidden in the ugliness of downtown LA...the area at night is a bit sketchy, but once in the hotel it was a steal for the price...have stayed in other "large" hotels in downtown that are twice as expensive and not nearly as nice...they have done a wonderful job making the rooms... more
