We found this B&B by chance when we were looking for Casa Grande in Big Pine Key on Lonely Planet's recommendation. Unfortunately, Casa Grande had closed so we took the owner's advice and tried the property nearby - The Barnacle. The owner and her husband appear to lead a "back to nature" existence and whilst very chiilled to the point... more

We agree with the recent reviews of The Barnacle. While the setting is stunning, the rooms were not clean, the air conditioning malfunctioned and bugs were omnipresent. The breakfast was very good, but was not promptly served. The owners are very nice folks who don't seem to have the will or the resources to maintain this aging property. Although we... more

My husband and I made reservations at the Barnacle based on earlier reviews and travel book recommendations. However, since then the owners are no longer running the property and the new managers, while very friendly and helpful, seem to have some issues with handling what is certainly a daunting job. The Barnacle is in a lovely location facing the ocean,... more

We were really looking forward to our stay at Barnacle B&B after reading the super reviews, unfortunately new people have taken over who don't really seem suited to running a B&B. though they are friendly enough, the place seems sadly to be running down. The property is wonderful and in a lovely setting on the beach, our room was dark... more

Really lovely stay in Barnacle b&b - lovely quiet setting with beautiful views- really friendly hosts - a welcome break from some of the other impersonal motels in the area. Would definately recommend it! more

If you want peace, quiet, serenity, kindness, and a unique experience, the Barnacle is the place for you. If you are one of those high maintenance types that must have perfection at all times, you should probably not visit the Florida Keys. This was our second visit to the Keys for a dive trip. It's true that the Barnacle is... more

My wife and I were traveling through the Keys in May. We spent one night at Barnacle Bed & Breakfast. It's a very quiet setting and right on the water. You will see deer if you stay here. Breakfast was delicious. The house is very unique and our room was on the 2nd level. You will have to drive a... more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in April. The owner, Jane, is very accommodating and is a wonderful cook. We had the Tarpon room, which was very charming. The Barnacle has a patio dining area, and hammocks on its beach for relaxing. Reasonable pricing too, especially for the area. more

This place was the highlight of our trip. Three nights in a serene, beautiful setting, with a full, hot breakfast. Quiet, right on the water. It was fun visiting with other guests from all over the world at breakfast. more

We stayed at the Barnacle March 12-15th, 2007 in the dolphin room which is on the second floor. The inn is located in a very private setting which is great. The view was very nice from our windows as was the ocean breeze. We never turned on the air. Breakfasts were very nicely done and presented beautifully. We met several... more
