Our family chose the Grand Beach Resort Hotel after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor. Our first choice was the Tamarack Lodge, but they were only booking reservations with a minimum of a week stay. It turns out that the Tamarack's beach was not as nice as the Grand Beach, so it worked out afterall! The hotel was updated recently and... more

Although a busy, popular summer destination, there are suprisingly few consistently highly-rated hotels in Traverse City. We were pretty disappointed by our last choice, but had higher hopes for the Grand Beach, highly rated by several other Trip Advisor users. It was not awful, but we wouldn't choose it again. The most positive aspect is a very nice soft sand... more

We stay at this hotel for five days and were very pleased with the experience. Our room on was the third floor, overlooking the beach and Traverse Bay. The second and third floors have balconies. If you stay on the first floor you have a small open patio and can step right out onto the sand. There’s a breakfast included... more

I took a weekend vacation to Traverse City for my birthday with my boyfriend. Being the general manager of a resort, I am pretty nit-picky with hotels, so I almost always try and see a room first before booking it. After driving up and down the same road a few different times and looking at several different hotels we stopped... more

I booked this because it ranked #1 on tripadvisor but was little disappointed. First off, it doesn't feel like a resort but more like a regular motel. Yes, the room was a bit larger than a regular room with microwave, extra sink etc., but it smelled damp and looked like it needed a revamp (wet stains on ceiling, lose toilet... more

The beach was exactly as pictured, it was beautiful. However, when we got in the room the first thing my kids did was jump on the beds it was then we realized the sheets hadn't been changed as there was a pretty big stain of coffee or blood or something on one of the beds and hair on the sheets... more

We stayed at the Grand Beach for two nights as part of driving trip around Michigan. We can only agree with the last several reviews by saying that this is a a very good hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and well maintained. As noted in the reviews, the Grand Beach has... more

My wife and I recently stayed 2 nights at the Grand Beach Hotel in Traverse City, Michigan. We had heard great things about the hotel and hoped they were true. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and young lady who checked us in was very nice. She even suggested a restaurant, the Red Mesa Grill, for us to... more

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Beach on June 4, 2008 for two nights. It was a very enjoyable stay. The room was new and very clean. The staff was very friendly. The stay was so nice that we may return before the end of this summer. more

I stayed a weekend in the hotel with my daughter, arriving during a late season snowfall. The room was great. It had plenty of space, was clean, and was right on the beach as promised. There were a couple of chairs on a small private deck that lead right out to the beach on Traverse Bay through a sliding door.... more
