We chose to get married at a wine farm and after viewing numerous farms we fell in love with Le Franschhoek. The views were spectacular, the food was fantastic (we had lunch to sample the food) and the hotel was just beautfiful. We stayed in the 2 bed self catering chalets, and they were better than expected. Very spacious, clean... more

We stayed at this hotel during a 2 week holiday in the Western Cape. Following days in Cape Town and Hermanus it was the undoubted accommodation highlight of our trip. We had read some dissappointing reviews and arrived with some concerns as a result. It was difficult to believe that we were staying in the same hotel. We arrived in... more

We stayed at Le Franschoek at the beginning of March and had low expectations given the previous reviews...however we had a really pleasant stay... We arrived an hour earlier than the 2pm check in time, but were showed to the lounge and ordered a delicious lunch and drinks until our room was available. Our room (14) was spacious and so... more

We had a fairly pleasant stay, a few gripes but nothing serious. On check-in the receptionist was very insistent we should reserve a table for dinner even though we informed her we had plans to go into town that evening. Even when we said it wasn't worth it she said she would reserve anyway just in case (seems like they... more

The reception staff were surly, unhelpful and remarkably inefficient; the head receptionist was particularly supercilious and patronising. We spent an hour (with no welcome drink) trying to sort out our request for twin beds and a bathtub (which we had pre-booked). The hotel was full and all the standard rooms were allocated (there was a VW dealer party also booked... more

I would agree with many parts of the reviews people have written, but would disagree with some parts. From my experience, the hotel is in an absolutely beautiful setting just out (3km) of the town. I was surprised to find it fairly large. There is a main hotel with a thatched roof (which can mean you can hear the winds... more

We were really looking forward to our stay but were VERY disappointed. The rooms, furnishings, pool and views are fab BUT and it's a big BUT, it's so stuck-up, soul-less and badly managed. We stayed here with our 2 small children and felt the constant need to say "shhhh!"- we found it hard to relax. The staff were uptight and... more

For a supposed 5 star hotel, Le Franschhoek was a huge disappointment. We checked in on Christmas Eve and saw three rooms. Each of the three had badly stained carpet, dead bugs in the inside lights, mold/mildew in the bathrooms, towels that were ragged, and overall the place just didn't seem very clean. For what we were paying, this wasn't... more

We stayed at his hotel as part of a wonderful holiday and were very excited about the look and the uber-smart feel of the place - on the plus side, the grounds were lovely and the food was good. We checked in with reception at 1pm (prior to our 2pm time slot) on the day of arrival and left our... more

We stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon and wanted to use this hotel as a base to explore the Winelands. First thing to say is that the hotel and its grounds are stunning and beautifully set on high ground among vineyards, about 3 miles from the village. Our suite was very spacious, with a large balcony with views... more
