My ex-girlfriend (now she's my fiancee) and I just returned from a phenomenal 10 day trip to Greece. It started with the "mandatory" two day stay in Athens to check out the historic sites. We then went off to Oia, Santorini, somewhat anxious as we were not sure what to expect at Lava Oia. We had read the raving reviews... more

Very friendly hostess, Ms Petridou, gave us restaurant recommendations, organized a rental car, and even offered to take us to the bakery on the first morning of our arrival. Superb caldera view and a great place to sit on the terrace of an evening with a bottle of the local wine (buy Santos..you can't go wrong). Very comfortable apartments, everything... more

You cannot beat the charm, view, hospitality and competitive price to be enjoyed at Lava Oia. The “traditional houses” are built into the mountainside caves and the comfort and functionality are a tribute to the architectural talents of the proprietor, Ms. Pipitsa Petzidou, who is also a superb hostess. Ms. Pipitsa provided us with excellent touring advice and recommendations to... more

Please bear in mind that Lava Oia's is a simple apartment and not a hotel. There are no amenities or breakfast served. (But you will have a daily cleaning service, towels changed once in 2-3 days) But the owner is lovely, like visiting your aunt and she will give you all sorts of advices and directions on the island so... more

View and price can't be beat - We stayed four nights. Plus Location, awesome view of the caldera. Town of Oia is awesome. Just far enough from the center of town and the tour groups. Clean and spacious - bedroom and living room. Slept 3 adults comfortably. Patio to die for. Best price in Oia, about 140E per night. Friendly... more

As low-key, savvy travelers, we were wary of staying in Fira and opted for Oia instead. After poring over dozens of Web sites (and tripadvisor reviews), we contacted Lava Oia's. Ms. Petridou was very accommodating and helpful in booking the suite - she even set pictures by e-mail of our suite. On arriving, we found the place to be very... more

I have to gush on Lava Oia's. We got married in Oia and Pepitsa, the owner, was pivitol in making it happen. She argued with the Priests for us (we were able to get married in the Orthodox church because of our religion), bought us a wedding cake (oh, yum), got us the photographer, was a witness etc. etc. And... more

We had our own little cliff house/apt. with bathroom, kitchen, dining room, bedroom and 2 verandahs one looking over the caldera out to the volcano. Not lavishly decorated and no champagne breakfasts or fuzzy gowns and slippers but who needs them. We just loved it you could essentially sit out on the verandah and admire the view and not want... more

What a wonderful memory...we want to go back and make another one! Santorini is breathtaking and the views from our own very private terrace were spectacular. The villa itself was endearing as was the hostess. She went out of her way to give us the best room for our needs as well as making sure everything was in tip-top shape.... more

I spent my 60th birthday at Lava Oias. I only wish we had had more time there. The six traditional cave houses are perched on a high cliff and have a spectacular caldera view. We had our own kitchen and there was a grocery store nearby. It was also just a short walk into Oia, possibly the most picturesque town... more
