The only reason we stayed here is to catch the ferry in the morning, and we opted not trying to find a hotel on the Outer Banks at night. Its the only hotel within a reasonable driving distance of the ferry terminal. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. The rooms were like a prison cell - concrete block construction, old... more

My husband and I stayed here so we could take the 9:30 am ferry to Ocracoke. Our room was $83 and given the price, I wasn't expecting the Ritz. The staff was very kind and accommodating and the room was fine. The only problem was the water - it smelled a bit like the sea. It was outdated but it... more

What a disappointment! We stayed here after arriving on the ferry from Ocracoke Island. The bathroom fixtures were green from corrosion, the carpet was musty and worn, large dead flies were found in the shower, the water was luke-warm at best, the water pressure was nonexistant, the miniblinds did not cover the window, we hung beach towels on the windows.... more

This little motel at the end of Cedar Island is a nice little place to stay right on the sound. The Driftwood Motel is located within walking distance of the Ferry. Overall its a decent motel! Im not sure I would return because its just so far from shopping, sightseeing, etc.. I stayed here knowing that the motel was right... more

Well the only reason we had to stay was because the ferry was shut down, but for staying in a place on the fly, i would have to say that the rooms were clean and offered cable tv and a bed to sleep in. more

The only reason to stay here is for its location next to the ferry to Ocracoke. The motel room seemed dirty, esp. the sheets. No alarm or way to wake up in the morning, unimpressive continental breakfast. Next time I would stay down the road - closer to civilization. more
