Please do not stay at this hotel unless you stay in the newer duplexes. The actual Inn is terrible. The hotel is worn out. The carpets are dirty, hallways are extremely dark, the furniture and bedding is from the 1960's, window treatments are old and torn, and the rooms smell musty. Each room has a window air conditioner that cannot... more

This year was the third time we have stayed at the Island Inn around May 10 and 11th. We go for the ceremonies at the British Seamans Cemetery. We love the Inn especially since they transformed the annex area into Chalets, 9 of us were in attendance this year, we find the Inn a good place to stay, the staff... more

A 2 1/2 hour ferry ride from Swan Quarter took us to Ocracoke for Ocrafolk Festival the first weekend in June. Upon arriving at the villa we were informed our unit had been given to another couple due to one of the people being on a walker and unable to climb stairs. We were settled into villa 2 a, 2... more

We arrived on a Wednesday evening at 6:30, the office was locked, but a hand written note left on the front door told us our room # and that the room was unlocked. On Thursday morning, we went down to the office, which was still locked and realized there was no "delicious island breakfast" available at the Island Inn! Be... more

We booked the "Crow's Nest" room at the Island Inn. The room has a nice view, I'll give them that. However, the room smelled like rotten eggs. We thought maybe there must have been a leaky water pipe in the room somewhere since the water on Ocracoke reaks of sulfur. Within the first hour of being in the room both... more

What a terrific experience! We went to Ocracoke Island last weekend March 7-10. It is considered the off season there, so not everything is open this time of year. I located this little inn afer googling ocracoke island and finding it on about three sites about the island. We stayed in Villa #4 which was terrific! Fully equipped, comfortable two... more

We stayed for labor day weekend, and the hotel is old, but very interesting!! I loved the place. It made me feel like I was walking back in time. The owners were very friendly, and accomodating. The rooms are fine, bathroom, beds, and televisions. No phone. I advise to bring a cell phone. The price was great, and I can... more

Before visiting the Island Inn, I read one negative and one positive review. The positive review indicated that the inn was under new management and significant improvements had been made. We failed to see any improvements and were quite disappointed with the Inn. The structure has a lot of potential but needs a significant amount of work. The rooms were... more

Let me first say that the last reviews about The Island Inn do not do it justice. Frankly , The Island Inn is Ocracoke, with its history and lore. There are two buildings, and you get what you pay for. The original Inn is rustic in places, but very comfotable and very clean. It is a historic island strucure(over 100... more
