My first stay at ZaZa. Nicer semi-upscale property. Got a great rate (<$200) making it a no-brainer. Like many of the hotels in this genre, lots of investment in trying to make it hip and boutique feeling ... but the service never lives up to expectations. Took them 15+ minutes to get me checked-in. Friendly, lovely room, great pool, spot on service etc etc. Just right for an overnight stay in Dallas. My many requests to the concierge (due to a packing error) were all answered promptly and with great grace. The pool area was a welcome refuge from the heat and the food was very nice. We booked and prepaid a month in advance. Arrived at the hotel, and were at first wowed by the decor. Unfortunately, that was short lived. They claimed to have no knowledge of our reservation. Hotel Zaza is a unique hotel with beautiful furnishings in a good location. Close to the Dallas Museum of Art and many spots to eat in the downtown (Uptown) area. Usually very expensive, but found a deal through Expedia and directly through hotel. Rooms are some of the nicest I have stayed in - LCD TV, sofa, nice bathrooms. Wish I had more time to spend there. more
