I picked the Castle Inn because of Trip Advisor reviews but I guess I have to do some more analysis of the individual comments. It was very highly rated yet the room couldn't be more basic. It had two queen beds yet there was hardly room to get out of the beds on the wall side and there were only... more

My partner and I used this as a base to explore SF and found it ideally located, within easy walk of convenience stores, sights, restaurants, bars and the bay where you can catch a beautiful sunset behind the bridge. Accommodation was fine, very clean and well kept, but wouldn't consider it modern compared to the main stream Holiday Inn, Hilton... more

Four ladies wanting a low cost and safe place to stay while in San Francisco. The Castle Inn was a great choice for us. Loved the free off street parking (fit the full size car just fine) and location. The free continental breakfast (yougert, granola bars, fruit, pasteries) were great to bring back to our room or take and go.... more

We highly recommend The Castle Inn if you are looking for a good, clean, quiet value for money budget motel located on Russian Hill. It is a walk, cable car or bus ride to Fisherman’s Wharf (eat at Scomas, everywhere else seems to be tourist traps) and everywhere else. It is close to public transport with connections that can take... more

We spent 7 days at the Castle Inn at the beginning of this month. Booking the hotel was really easy and Varsa came back confirming the booking and rest of details. Getting to the hotel from the airport is very simple as it is close to Van Ness ( 101). In less than 30 minutes you are there. The location... more

Arrived after a tiring flight to be met with a friendly and speedy check-in which was appreciated. First impressions are of a clean if somewhat older property. Information on where to go and what to do were available in the abundance of leaflets at reception coupled with good advice from knowledgeable reception staff. We had a family suite at the... more

overall rating reflects heavy emphasis on value - this is far from a luxury, or a new or a newly refurbished or a full service hotel. the high value experience begins with booking and communicating directly with Varsa. her email communication is excellent - even when away from the inn on holiday. she booked a tour for us, responded with... more

Our first trip to San Francisco. The Castle Inn is in a great location to explore the city and great value for money. Very friendly and helpful reception on arrival and throughout our 3 night stay. Spacious room. Our 2 young children enjoyed riding the elevator! The free parking is great and no need to use the car at all... more

Location - The Good - location for using the local transit - short walks to the Muni bus and cable car line. The Bad - location is Noisy! - lots of traffic noise from Van Ness and Broadway. We had a 2nd floor room mid-way in the building. Bring ear-plugs if truck horns, sirens, traffic, Harley-Davidsons roaring by keep you... more
