This hotel is the absolute worst. Although the rooms are, on the surface, indeed "themed," the service is rude and inarticulate. The conning head mistress and her servants push for self-indulging donations during our hour long misery session on that eerie Sunday, the last night of my stay. I was in Gig's room, the room with a severely out-dated motif... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here in 2005 and we had a pretty decent experience. We booked the summer of love room which was simple and clean. The hotel as a whole is a unique and amazing idea as far as the rooms go. The breakfast was good and we made great friends with Mr Mouser the cat who lived... more

I am really glad I stayed here. It's a fun, different experience than a chain hotel, and you are right in the middle of all the things to do on Haight Street. Plus, the price is affordable. The Summer of Love room was a little rough around the edges, but the place was built in 1904. Nothing was wrong, but... more

It was everything we expected and more! Would go back in a moment. Five of us shared a room during a stay in SF to participate in Bay to Breakers 12K run. Great location, Room decor, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff were beyond our pre conceived ideas. It was like stepping back into the 70's . Especially enjoyed the bathtub... more

We stayed at the Red Vic for 3 nights in August. We were there for the Jerry Day festival. I really wanted to experience the essence of San Francisco so we opted for the Red Vic. If you are looking for a nice, quiet B&B this is definately not the place. That said the place is very interesting and the... more

Just got back and stayed one night in room with shared bathrooms. Room was old, dusty, did not smell fresh, needed new pillows! and the bed was nothing to write home about. Did not sleep well. This was a 1 star hotel at a 2 star price. more

My girlfriend and me stayed there for five nights and I have been there four years ago. I agree to the review of BayAreachick9 and would like to add that the breakfast service was better in my first stay both in quality of the breakfast itself (more fruits than only melons, other sorts of bread than only bagels, real dishes... more

The Red Vic is a great place to stay in San Francisco! It's got such a positive feel to it and all the staff are very friendly - and it's less expensive than most hotels in the city. Located in "the Haight" (just a few blocks away from the famous Haight-Ashbury intersection currently manned by some "hippies" celebrating the Summer... more

The Red Vic has great rates for being in such a happening location (lots of history, restaurants, clubs, bar, shops and golden gate park on the haight), but its ubiquitous red carpet looked as if it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in years (imagine brownish grit caked into the corners of your room and the creases of the stairway), the decor... more

This Bed and Breakfast Inn is a fabulous place to stay. The staff is very knowledgeable about places to go and things to do in San Francisco. The cafe in the lobby features vegetarian dining and vegan desserts as well as perfect coffee drinks. Occasionally they have live music in the dining area, and they keep an aura of peace... more
