One of the nicest Marriotts I've ever stayed at, and I've been to a few dozen. Everything seemed pretty new. The room was clean, fresh, and very pleasant. The bed was standard Marriott plushness. The TV worked fine (although it was a standard flat-screen CRT, not an LCD). The bathroom was well-stocked and water pressure was pretty good on the... more

As usual, the trip to San Diego was for a convention, and this Marriott is in a good location for the convention center - albeit not next door like the original Marriott. It was clean and quiet, and the staff were all polite. Check in and check out were quick. The rooftop bar gets alot of use - mainly by... more

Fantastic hotel - and I'm usually a little picky. When I walked into the ultra modern and chic lobby I thought the rooms would be very modern but many times that means small in a downtown hotel. I was wrong, I was very impressed with the space in our room. We had 2 double beds. I found the beds very... more

Just a great locale in the heart of the Ballpark and Gas Lamp district. Steps from Petco field and just 2 blocks from the harbor side entry into the Gas Lamp district. The front desk staff were great. Full of enthusiasm and cheerfully responding to any need. The hotel is modern and the beds were fabulous. Our room overlooked the... more

Overall a nice downtown hotel - nothing special - but a good location for walking around. But there were two big negatives for me. First of all, my room had some kind of frosted cover on the window. Now, I'm sure it was put on the window to conceal the terrible view if a rooftop and building. But I could... more

The Marriott Gaslamp is a well-run hotel in all aspects. However, it is rather expensive -- even for a quality chain hotel. Perhaps its proximity to Petco Park (home of the San Diego Padres) is the reason...but almost $400 a night (including the taxes) seems a bit steep. (This was the internet rate.) The room was a big one --... more

I stayed at this hotel for a major conference. It sits downtown, across the highway from the San Diego Convention Center. I am usually not a fan of Marriott Hotels, but this particular location was well appointed. The hotel definitely had a boutique feel from the lobby to the modern rooms. The negatives to this hotel would be the lack... more

This hotel has everything the business traveler needs and then some. The complex is enormous, with restaurants, shops, gym, etc. -- you'd never really need to leave the hotel except right outside the door is the fabulous gas lamp district with great food, bars & shopping. on the other side of the hotel is the harbor and a running/bike path.... more

Great rate achieved through priceLine, received a room of suite proportions, front office staff very helpful, the hotel actually exceeded expectations, and is very well situated in downtown San Diego. more

I recently stayed at this property while attending a trade show held at the convention center. Not only was this a great location in close proximity to the convention center, but it was just a great hotel! The staff was very helpful, everything was very clean, and I loved the decor. I also loved San Diego and didn't want to... more
