Everything was clean and nice looking. Got a AAA discount so it wasn't too expensive. Cleanest & most upscale part of San Diego...great Beach near by and really good restaurants - Even one of the ones on property was suprisingly very good. My wife and I have stayed here a few times since 2006 (most recently Jan 2008). It's a new hotel with easy access to the 5 Freeway. Although not on the beach, it's only about 10 min from the coast in non-rush-hour traffic. VERY close to UCSD, SD VA hospital. Shopping close to hotel. Clean, large rooms.
