We booked our stay here several months in advance and were able to secure very affordable rates. (Under $200. per night) Just before our trip, we saw the negative reviews and became concerned and tried to book elsewhere. However, our stay was during All Star week and there was nothing to be had for under $400. We crossed our fingers... more

We stayed at the Ameritania Hotel over 4th of July weekend. After reading most of the reviews I was a little afraid of bringing my family to this hotel. I have been to NY many times and have stayed at many hotels and this one was just as good as the others for the money you pay. The room was... more

Styed here for St. Paddy's day 07, the worst place i ever stayed hands down.. My friends and I had to move rooms twice, first time the hallway leading to the room had a terrible smell of dampness which was also filtering into the room. On the second occasion the shower and the toilet stopped working in the bathroom. Eventually... more

I stayed at the Ameritania Hotel earlier this year with my parents. I'm 15 and loved it. Why is everybody complaining? The doormen were lovely and as soon as we stepped out of the taxi put our bags on the rail and carried them to our room. The reception staff were very friendly and kind, they helped us with directions... more

8 days after I returned home I woke up to find a dozen bites, it happened again the next day, a doctor confirmed it was bed bugs, I obviously brought eggs home in my luggage. This is going to cost me a fortune, let alone the emotional trauma. Stay away from this hotel at all costs. more

Two female friends and I booked 3 nights in the Ameritania 24-26 July 2008 We were under the impression this hotel had had a recent refurb - and looking at the pictures it looks pretty impressive for the price. We were given an upgrade - goodness knows what from. The self-service coffee/tea area in the lobby was filthy and generally... more

For what you pay for--and $269 a night in midtown/Broadway is, relatively speaking, VERY cheap--you get a nice clean room and a comfortable bed which, for my visit to the City, was all I needed. Yes, I had a couple of TV channels that didn't come in, but I wasn't in New York to stay in my room and watch... more

Okay, I'm crazy. It is a dark hotel. The staff is quite helpful, they know me and deliver the room and floor I ask for. Is the lobby edgy and hip or just cold and somewhat spooky? I'm probably too old for this place but the location is just UNBELIEVABLE! I'm near Broadway, Carnegie deli, great restaurants. Letterman is just... more

I was very unsatisfied with my stay at the Hotel Ameritania. Half the stations on my TV wouldn't come through, and the sound kept going in and out. My toilet had a crack on the back and there was a huge hairball in the tub stuck on the drain. Ewww. A weird, high-pitched hissing noise kept coming out of the... more
