My husband and I, and another couple, were down in New Orleans for JazzFest, and the Lafayette Hotel was absolutely top-notch. Very conveniently located along the St. Charles Ave streetcar line, and just blocks from the French Quarter, the hotel provides easy access to all the fun and entertainment that New Orleans has to offer. Previous reviewers have been spot-on... more
This charming, comfortable, and quiet hotel overlooks Lafayette Square on St. Charles and is a quick walk to the French Quarter. We were pleased with the amenities and staff at this boutique hotel. more
This hotel was terrible. I booked this through Travelzoo that promised a free upgrade. 1. I didn't get upgraded because they "never upgrade". 2. The AC was broken and the room was over 80 degrees. They REFUSED to give me another room or fix the broken AC. Stating that I had to sleep in there and there was nothing I... more
The Lafayette Hotel was very charming and comfortable. While it wasn't the swankiest hotel I've ever stayed in, the rooms were cute with nice colored walls and a surprisingly comfortable mattress. The one negative thing I would say is there are no overhead lights so the room is a bit dark. The location is between the Garden District and the... more
This is a great historical hotel. We loved that it was quiet, but close enough to the French Quarter that we were easily able to go back and forth. The front desk staff -- Kerry and Luis -- were really accomodating. My friend and I arrived at 11:00 a.m. (check-in is 3:00 p.m.) and they were able to give us... more
My Husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary. We only planned on a long weekend. However, between the diverse entertainment of New Orleans and the hospitality of the Lafayette Hotel Staff, we decided to extend out stay into the week. We invited friends to join us after our arrival. When the staff was made aware, management made adjustments to... more
Cons: Upon checking in, I found that the bedspread in my room was extremely frayed and had a cigarette burn in it. The mattress had a deep hole in the middle that was so uncomfortable I asked for a new room. I was moved from a king suite to a double bed suite. The carpet in both rooms was faded... more
This hotel is Ritz Quality! The rooms are huge and comfy with great views in a safe area. We stayed in a deluxe suite for a weekend getaway without kids. The rooms are beautifully furnished. Just a quick walk to the French Quarter--5 blocks! Note these are short blocks. The service is unparralled. Michael, Kerry & Luis were friendly and... more
A well situated boutique hotel, with excellent rooms with enormous beds. Very friendly service, free wireless service, close to business and french quarters and also handy for the convention centre. more
