This was a great place to stay in Seattle. I lived in Seattle in the early 90's when I was in the Navy. It is a very special city to me as I met my wife there. When we were first married we lived on Capitol Hill and wanted to stay close to where we used to live. We live... more

This is the worst lodging experience of my life. The owner literally tried to kick me out of my room because I brought half of my omelet out of the dining room. She even opened the door to my room while I was on the toilet! She charged the card which I gave her to reserve the room without even... more

Management response from
SeattleMermaid, Owner

With respect to the guest and her eating habits, it was decided by my husband and myself that after repeated requests were ignored by her to please stop " scraping her leftovers into our napkins and taking them to her room" that it was time to end our relationship. We not only offered to extend breakfast hours for her boyfriend...

I just got back from a terrific stay at the Hill House. I lived in Seattle area for 17 years, and wanted to treat myself to some privacy in a neighborhood I used to live in and love --- Capitol Hill. If you are looking for a place IN THE CITY, near Seattle's most vibrant, hip, largely gay-populated, funky neighborhood,... more

Owner was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived later than expected and she made sure we were able to get into our rooms and settled. The B&B is very convenient to everything in Capitol Hill area (shops, restaurants, parks, public transport). In fact, the heart of downtown and Pike's Market are only about a 15 minute walk. The Bordeaux suite... more

Staying at one of Herman and Alea's properties is very much a part of the Seattle experience for us! The homes are located right in the heart of the city. Yes, the noise of a big city is a part of the experience (although the nights were very quiet and my sleep uninterrupted). That means it's also within walking distance... more

We stayed in the Celadon room only one night but it was already too long. The room was ok but awfully noisy with the traffic of the street. The shared bathroom was dirty and it iwas almost impossible to use the shower in the antique bath tub. My husband tried to take a shower but I gave up. The breakfast... more

We were thankful to be able to check-in early after an early flight from Boston. We stayed in the 'Rose' room which is quite small nut adequate. I found the shower in the shared bath very inadequate probably due to a flow restrictor that allowed so little water in couldn't get close enough to get wet without a struggle. The... more

I have stayed at the Hill House B&B now about 6 times while in Seattle on business. I would not think of staying anywhere else! Herman and Alea are gracious and welcoming, but then leave you to your privacy. If I need anything in the Seattle area, they track it down for me and this has at times gone way... more

Friendly is the best way to describe this Bed & Breakfast from the warm greeting at nearly midnight (thanks to Amtrak's late running) to the conversation around the communal breakfast table where superb and different breakfasts were served on the five days we stayed there. Easy 25 minute walk to the Waterfront, with the option of the 43 trolleybus outside... more

I stayed in a lower level room for four nights in late summer 2004. It was really a two-room suite: a bedroom and a sitting room with a TV (no cable). Upon arrival it smelled a little musty and damp, like a basement, but it was very clean (fresh bed linens and bath towels daily) and the odor dissapated after... more
