Room overall was looking good except for bathroom that looks really old vintage, but that is a very small detail for the good price they offer! We didn't go to the pool as it was looking very terrible: pool is really really not as good as it looks like on hotel website! Finally, the main problem at the lodge is... more

This is a little similar to the Arizona Inn except for a couple of things. One, it is much cheaper. Two, the decor in the rooms is different. Three, the breakfast menu is pretty limited, although I love their bacon. Four, the shower is better. And last but not least, it is positioned on a major street. (The Arizona Inn... more

I got such a great deal on this hotel; I didn't pay attention to the reviews about the construction, but it was a little disturbing when we arrived. Not to worry, though. The room (#20) was beautiful and the courtyard outside the room was quiet and very pretty. Tile and beams in the room were gorgeous. Closet was impressively large,... more

It's true, it is under construction and, while the construction isn't actually going on over the weekends, you can't get away from it. The construction site runs runs right up to the pool, right up to the restaurant, right out to the street (eliminating any pavement in the parking lot). Essentially, if you're not in your room, you are looking... more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lodge in early March, 2008. We were upgraded to a bigger room (#60) when we arrived, which was a spacious one bedroom with sitting area and huge bathroom. The room was nice and the grounds/courtyards were quite charming. You really get the adobe feel in this place. There were a few issues, mostly... more

The lodge on the Desert is currently under going some welcome new additions. I will be honest in saying that at first I was nervous about staying at the hotel with construction next door but the staff was so wonderful that they made my vacation worth it! The service from the hotel and restaurant staff goes way above and beyond... more

This is not your run-of-the-mill 'corporate' motel/hotel. Even though they are under contruction~an addition~ (at the time of this wiritng) it was still a great place to stay. First, the staff could not have been more accomodating. Each of the three gentlemen at the desk remembered us each time we walked through the lobby. One night we couldn't get a... more

The property is not without its charm as others have stated. The grounds are lovely and the historic value of the place cannot be denied. The room I was given (#11) was spacious, but the carpet seemed like it was original from the 1930s. The walls were cracked. The windows (as others have remarked) are so thin that you get... more

The Lodge is a unique, historic property dating from the 1930s and constructed of adobe. It has the ambiance of that period with thick walls, hacienda layout, winding paths through xeriscaped grounds. If you love traditional and regional architecture this will delight. The rooms are very spacious (ours was about 15 x 26 for the main room plus a dressing... more

When we normally stay in Tucson, we rent an apartment for the week. It's cheaper than getting a hotel for everyone. This last trip however, we decided to stay at the Lodge. I had seen the reviews of the place and thought... ok, lets try it. When we arrived, it was very clear that there was some sort of construction... more
