We stayed this hotel for a week in Apr 2008. We didn't like some staff there. On check in our flight was so early and asked in case if there was the room ready. The oldish receptionist said that the check in was 3pm---fair enough, we knew, just needed try but this receptionist always made us feel stupid whenever ask... more

We stayed at the Gateway for one week Mar/Apr 2008. While the property is older and could use renovation, it has our two required, and one preferred quality. It is clean, safe, and very affordable. We averaged $80 per night. As mentioned, it is not glitzy or glamorous, but it is clean, and housekeeping did a fine job on a... more

The lobby is cool and the location is great, but that's about it.....even at $80 per night, we felt ripped off. We stayed here one night and left the next morning. The rooms are dark and damp, and very old. There has been some remodeling, but it appears to be purely cosmetic. The beds are honestly by far the worst... more

We overnighted on our way to the Big Island. We were on the 8th floor in a corner room. There were sliding doors to small balconies on two sides of the room - great way to enjoy warm Hawaiian air. Noises of big city were a bit annoying but the room was comfortable, clean. Staff was great. Basic continental breakfast... more

On first walking into the hotel I had high expectations. The reception and lift area was very modern and vibrant. The rooms however were acceptable but a little disappointing The aircon' was very noisey. The room decor was very 80's and the bed linin looked old, however therooms were clean The staff were very friendly. The swimming pool area is... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the gateway hotel. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and accomodating...special mention to Jon at the front desk. The hotel is located on one of the main streets - neighbours are Nike, Tiffany etc. Though (some) of the rooms are a little dated, for the price you pay and the amount of time you... more

Close to the convention center.walking distance and you can't get lost..and for thoes of you on government per diem is well within the per diem. You can walk thru the park to the beach by Hale Koa and the Sheraton. Has a trolley stop... more

Our flight arrived in Honoululu early and we got to the hotel way before the check in time - but after travelling overnight - our family was tired and wanted a bed and shower before we hit Waikiki. The young man at the reception was great - he did not hesitate to check us in early and was more than... more

During the summer I stayed at the Waikiki Gateway for 2 months straight while working at the Marine Corps Base in Kaneohe Bay. My stay was very pleasant and the staff was exceptional. Initially I was given one of the "premium" rooms but I found this to be inadequte for a 2 month stay. I upgraded to the penthouse for... more

We stayed here on our last night in Hawaii as we had an early flight back to Australia the following morning. We had a hire car and were able to use their valet parking service (charge depends on whether you booked the hotel with them or through an agent). The room was average for a hotel and very warm -... more
