Well...it is hard to say much when I think the bears in Yosemite live better than the guests at the Ahwahnee. This is a very old hotel (built in 1927). It has some charm and we loved the windows, which are also very old. The furniture looks like it dates to 1927 too and it is decorated in kind of... more

We stayed here for 2 nights with friends in July 2008 and had a good time. Although I have read some reports that build this place up to be sometthing special don't expect 5 star luxury or you will definitely be disappointed. The hotel is not spotlessly clean, the decor is generally tired and faded, and the staff are at... more

What a wonderful experience: staying in Yosemite for 3 days and sleeping in this ancient historical hotel was a dream come true! Even if the fires were raging near Yosemite, as soon as we arrived they were prompt to change us from one of the cottages we had reserved, where there was no power because of the emergency, to a... more

Our family of 3 spent two evenings in Cottage #700 in mid-July, while site seeing in Yosemite Valley. With only a few days to enjoy the amazing Yosemite Valley, the Ahwahnee's location could not be better. El Capitan, Half Dome and Yosemite Falls are practically right outside your door and many of the hiking trailheads and other recreational amenities are... more

We just got back from a week at the Ahwahnee. We took our three children, 23, 21, & 17 and had two rooms at the hotel. Yes it was expensive but it was really awesome! I think my husband almost wept when we left. We were right in the heart of the action and yes this hotel is a big... more

This hotel was very disppointing given the high price. The room was shabby and the restauarnt was stuffy with average food. Location is good but would stay in one of the cheaper options in the valley next time as the ahwahnwee is not worth the price. more

No problems. Hotel was good, but crowded with non residents. Dining room, whilst an imposing room was more like an Army "chow" hall, very crowded. But food (breakfast) excellent and service good. more

The Ahwanne to me was almost perfect. The Rooms, The Resturants, The Staff, The Pool, Everything. But, as with every hotel, there's a catch - and the catch for this hotel was the drive from San Francisco International Airport. It took us 5 and a half hours to get from The Airport To The Ahwanne. While Driving there, be prepared... more

My husband and I have stayed at the Ahwahnee a number of times, most recently in late June. Over the years we have experienced all of the other lodging options that are available in Yosemite. The Ahwahnee is certainly our favorite and suits our needs and tastes now. It is a luxury hotel in one of the most beautiful National... more

The rating is tough because of lack of air conditioning on 93 and 98 degree (F) days. On the first day without air, Engineering told us that some of the air conditioning units were being worked on. They gave us fans to move the air in the room (which we could only do with the door to the hall open.)... more
