For many years it was, me & my wife love retreat. Last time we have been there we were diisapointed. Bad manteinance was evident, the service was awfull. Nevertheless the location is a must. Quiet. Bucolic. Expensive also. too expensive for the service received. No newspapers for guest, only Casino magazines. Bathrooms wall with paint falling down. more
What a lovely, quite place, with stunning views from the comfortable rooms. No bells and whistles, but austere chique... less is more... Free tennis and swimming pool. Breakfast is very nice. Dinner was ok, not exceptional, a la carte expensive (for portugal) 3 course menu 30 Euros. In the middle of nowhere Internet should be free (may be you should... more
Very nice weekend, it was our first time in Arraiolos and loved all the visited places. The hotel is magnificent and we experienced a very good service. We visited the wine cellars and brought same very good bottles of red wine. We only stayed during the first weekend of march, all the restaurants recommend by the front desk were perfect,... more

The rooms are spartan luxury, if that's possible - you get the essence of the monestary but in a very comfortable fashion. Views are over the lovely rolling countryside.... more
The Pousada is an amazing, special, and beautiful hotel. From the moment we stumbled through the doors with all of our luggage we were treated like honored guests. The blue tiled chapel and the cloisters were stunning. The hotel restaurant staff were standouts - they remembered our favorite wines, offered suggestions, and even made meals for us that weren't on... more
Just over an hour from Lisbon, away from the hustle and bustle just outside the whitewashed town of Arraiolos you'll find this 'pousada' nestling in valley overlooked by a fort and flanked by a lake, hills, trees, sheep and vineyards . It was glorious. Having been to a few Paradors (Spain) and Pousadas (Portugal) we were more than impressed with... more
