I stayed here when I was on a group trip to Sri Lanka and what a lovely place. The room was immaculate and the decorations on the bed in the evening was such a nice tough. The staff were attentive and the surroundings ideal. You can't fault the service and the buffets were delicious with alot of choices to suit... more

This has to be the best hotel ever - Food 5 star and above, staff so nice and really lovely. The accommodaiton fab - the scenery amazing. Lying in the pool and just viewing the surrounding lake and wildlife was something else - you never knew what you would see (I spotted a Mongoose, Large Lizards, Monkeys, Toucans) just the... more

The accommodation is in semi-detached bungalows grouped in small clusters around the reception, restaurant and grounds. They are well appointed and the room boys keep them immaculate and well tended. A safe is in the wardrobe. We only ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. This provides excellent buffet food, wth plenty of choice for all tastes. For lunch... more

Definitely the best hotel that we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Lovely rooms, our one didn't have a view but it was a standard. It is a low rise development consisting of "bungalows" Comfortable 6 foot bed was a bonus, clean good sized ensuite (shower not bath). Lovely setting overlooking a lake, beautiful pool area with a lovely restaurant/bar overlooking.... more

Gorgeous big rooms with enormous beds and walk in shower. Set in very pretty surroundings with a lovely pool. Staff are polite and helpful and the buffet food is very varied and delicious. Good wine list although very very expensive, cocktails a bit of a let down too, otherwise a really lovely place. Unfortunately we only had one night here... more

Visitors be ware. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days and on each day found that the staff was inflating the cost of drinks and food and asking for cash versus charging the real price to the room. Management was notified at many levels of the problem and did not fix it before we left. As... more

Arriving here after the flight and the car journey was the most amazing experience. The outdoor reception was unique and the staff were all very attentive yet discreet. When we arrived and were shown to our room (which was lovely - very spacious and it had everything you needed) we decided to change and just wander around the grounds -... more

We stayed at the Chaya Village for 3 nights in September 2007. We found the hotel staff very welcoming and helpful from start to finish. The accommodation is bungalow style. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished with a good sized bathroom and a small terrace. There is a reasonable sized swimming pool, overlooking the lake. This sometimes attracts the... more
