Not a bad place for some late night food, but a little overrated. The chili's pretty good but I wouldn't write home about it. Of course, the Chili Bowl has a proud history, but the food's just "o.k." more

Long line-ups but the counter staff are efficient, and friendly to both long-time customers and newbies. I loved the ambience here, totally anchored in the neighbourhood (has a similar feel to Schwartz's in Montreal or Swan Oyster Depot in San Francisco). This is a place you go to for the atmosphere -- indeed, everyone in DC should at least check it out. However, the food is pretty awful -- dark, tasteless, yet acidic chili is the highlight of the menu. The fun vibe of the place, however, is definitely worth a visit. more
