We stumbled upon the restaurant trying to find someplace to have dinner, relatively inexpensively, and with a small child. First, they were originally closed when we arrived at 5:30pm. The head waiter (manager?) saw us approached and said he was just finishing a meeting, and would now open to serve us. Everyone was friendly. I ordered a chicken satay entree... more

Upon arrival we were handed menus and told to pick our own table. Strike one but I wasn't too turned off. We decided to sit outside. Service was a little slow and the wait staff appeared to be high. Strike two. The people in my party thought the food "wasn't too bad." I have had worse and certainly have had... more

The servers are horrible and appear to be on drugs and the food is as bad as I had heard in the past!! I just keep asking myself, why did we go there!! more

We had two meals at Cantina Captiva recently; both of them were good. The service was friendly, but a little slow (young staff, minimum wage perhaps), the food was well presented and was good value in my opinion. The decor seemed a little rough around the edges - we sat next to a pile of empty Corona crates! But hey,... more

This restaurant is owned by the same folks as R.C. Otters and Key Lime Bistro but I must say that this is the best reasonably priced dining in all of Captiva. The food is fresh and simple Mexican with all the standards; tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. However the food is delicious and fresh tasting. The prices are a bargain for... more

I ate dinner here earlier this week and the margaritas were delicious. However, although the food was okay it was a over priced for a burrito and the service was HORRIBLE. We waited almost twenty minutes just to get a drink and almost twenty more minutes for our waiter to take our order. It was not very busy so there... more

We went for lunch with low expectations, but had a very nice meal. The black beans were good, and no longer the liquidy mix of black beans and pinto beans that Tourmaline described in an earlier review. The chips and salsa were not that great, and everything needed a little salt. I wonder whether many restaurants on Sanibel/Captiva deliberately go... more

If you are on Captiva, you should eat here. It is very laid back and kid friendly. My wife and I ate here with our 18 month old son. The food (we had the chicken nachos and the shrimp tacos) were excellent. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We spent a week in the Ft. Myers area and Captiva... more

The atmosphere and decor were fine - a touch of kitchy Mexican adobe inside. Colorful and rustic. The outdoor seating was off to the side in a kind of garden area screened by plants. The waiter was friendly and chatty. The food, well that's a different story. The chicken was EXCELLENT - grilled, but not over charcoal or even gas... more

Arrived on a sunday evening after a long journey. The staff were friendly and very nice to our baby. The drinks came quick and the food took a little longer, but it was fresh and tasty, not the best mexican food I've ever had, but pretty good. I'd go back. more
