Loved the muffaletta so much we bought another one that we took with us on our plane ride to Austin (and my mom flew with hers to Los Angeles) to share with friends; they loved it too! Even those who didn't like olives loved the sandwich :) Can't beat the price either. Simple and delicious. more

If you go to the Quarter...get the signature sandwich at Central Grocery Company. When you finish this sandwich, you'll be happily stuffed and satisfied. The olive relish is great. more

I know that this, like Pat's and Geno's in Philadelphia, is considered a touristy place and the locals go elsewhere, but I love the Central Grocery's Muffeletta! Before we left NOLA, we wanted one more taste of some good food, so we headed over to Central Grocery Company. Get there early (around 11 a.m. or so) because they gather quite a crowd for lunch. They had muffalettas already made and wrapped, so it was nice not to have to wait. We got a whole sandwich to go... more

Like beignets or a hurricane or a big bowl of gumbo, the muffuletta at Central Grocery was described to me as something you just have to try when your in New Orleans. I'm glad we did! We travel to New Orleans every other year. This muffuletta is a must for us. The olive spread is out of this world and the bread is perfect. When the sandwiches are purchased, they are wrapped and ready to go -- so we take ours to either Jackson Square, or the riverfront, and have a simple picnic. The attached picture... more

Not as good as it used to be. Tourist go there because it's "Central Grocery". Go a couple doors down to Frank's Restaurant. The line is shorter and the Muffaletas are better. more
