Hi all Just got back from Blau!!!

Although the resort said the main buffet would most probably not be open in July. it was!! and also the pool buffet and the beach grill so there was a choice of 3 places to go for lunch every day!!!

Hi Bacardibabe,

Did you enjoy your holiday ? Me and my family are going to the Blau in 8 days time and we cant wait. Were you at the front of the hotel or the back (pool view), and in your mind which is the better. I know you do get towels but do you think it would be a good idea to take a towel each, on past reviews people have taken own towels so they know which sun bed belongs to them. Anything else I should know would be great. Regards Lorraine.

P.S I like your name is it your fav drink, its mine and do they provide it in cuba. Lol

Hi,

Hope you enjoyed your holidays. A few questions if you don't mind:

- Did you notice any activities for young kids (7-5)? During the day and after diner?

- Do you "feel" crowded in the hotel, restaurants, pool, or beach.

- How is the noise between adjacent rooms including the one above?

- How was the drinks? Do you have a list of easily order/favorite drinks in this particular hotel? Do they have the drink of the day?

Thanks much,

hi beardess don"t bother taking your own towel.just extra baggage just put a serong or your book on top of your towel so you recognise it.

yes Bacardi was my favourite drink but i have moved on to Morgans spiced rum and no they had neither in the Blau but i survived on the local rum!!!

The higher up you go the better the view but remember the lifts often break for a few hours each day especially the ones nearest the buffet side you can either take the stairs or go to the lifts on the other side.

we stayed on the 5th floor so not so far to walk!!

Hi Trexim

yes we did see activities going on daily for the little ones and they have a great swing park. They also did stuff with them in the early evening while you were getting your tea.

No i did not feel overcrowded in July but it may be different at some times of the year when it is more popular.

the rooms seemed to have good sound proofing as my teenagers were in the next room with music on and we could not hear them, and there were youngsters the other side of us and we never heard them either. we did hear the girl above some evenings going about in her high heel shoes, but never coming in at night maybe she had taken them off by then as your feet tend to get very hot and a few people seemed to put there heels on to go to dinner but later change into flatties for comfort!!

well on the drinks front!!!

where do i start my favourite is the champagne in the piano bar and the cocktails are just a must but just look at what others are drinking and ask whet they are called my favourite was the strawberry daquiri,

sex on the beach, and of course the pina colada!!

the beer is also good.

I'm just back too and can't believe I didn't notice that the buffet was open at lunch!! We saw signs up in first few days saying that it was shut so just presumed that was the case for all the time we were there! oops. Always found something nice at pool buffet anyway.

Havana Club is my drink of choice and was total heaven for me getting to drink it on tap. Was gutted when I had to pay £3 for one in one of my local pubs last night! ; - )

I thought it was a fab hotel.

hi helshaw

don't worry you did not miss anything it was just quieter and cooler in the buffet, but the food was the same as in the pool buffet, maybe not quiet as much choice!!!! we preferred the pool buffet and only used the main buffet a few time when getting back from varedero bus tour and when when we were still dressed!!!

hi there, We are a mid 40s couple from Canada researching this resort for spring 2009. My question is how far is the walk from the resort to the beach and how far is the walk to town assuming we could walk. This will be our first trip to Cuba we usually go to Puerto Plata. thanks

Hi Bacardibabe,

A group of us are thinking of going to the Blau in Sept 09. We are aged about 30-40 ish and all dance Cuban Salsa here in the U.K.

Can you please tell us if there is a disco at night where we will be able to have a dance or two. Also is there much Cuban music played at this hotel?

Many thanks
