Hi sparks31, read my post on Which Riu to book. I will get around to writing a review before too long on the Mambo.

Really though, go for the cheapest option, you will not be disappointed!!

Well, I can only say we have been three times and each time surpassed the last and I am gutted we aren;t going back this year. We are goingto another Riu hotel in another country and i am pleased about this but the Dominican is everythin a holiday could be and more. Lots of sun, lovely beach, three hotels to wander through and sample each bar, and good nightlife either entertainment or from meeting the vast amount of guests from all over the world. you will certainly meet some good people there.

THe staffare very friendlt and can't do enought to make your stay enjoyable. If you are ot happy or want something changing then go and ask. It will be done but mentioning it 2 weeks after you get back home and it wonT!!!

My kids love the Dominican, we love the Dominican and more importantly the Riu Merengue and the staff.

Go for it, enjoy your holiday and boy I wish I was there!

Sparks we left it till 3/4 days before going and got a great deal over £300 cheaper than the brochure price! so if your not tied to exact dates its worth waiting. We are 42 an 41, I will let you know what its like when we return a week on Wed!

I agree with one of the other posters, just stay in which ever of the 3 hotels has the best price, they are all similar so you wont be dissapointed, we have been twice now and it is a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I just returned from Puerto Plata and the Merengue is awesome. I will be posting my review by the end of the week and I will include pictures. We are in our late 40's and still love to party with the younger crowd, but also had wonderful conversations with the older crowd. There was plenty to do for all age groups.

No top shelf liquor but the liquor they had wasn't bad. I am a lite beer drinker and the beer they served was perfect for me.
