Girls, who's started their bikini body diet? |
|
Okay...I have 7 months to go. He He. I'm 39 and weigh 124lbs. I'm already jummping on my mini trampoline. I run in place. It's awesome. I'm wanting to tone, tone, tone. It's getting harder the older I'm getting. Here's what works for me before I went to Mexico last time. A couple of weeks before I went I ate fruit and rice. No salt, no fat. Breakfast 1 banana, Lunch 1 cup of rice (nothing on it) two fruits. Dinner. same as lunch. Works great to loose a few quickly. sodium is huge with weight. This is just short term. Eating healthy is the key and of course exersise. I'm trying to get rid of uneven skin on the back of my upper thighs. So I guess I will be trying those dreadful lunges. Great topic.....

skycruiser-great job on your fitness for your honeymoon! You are right about the # of pounds. The scale is not showing me the results my pants are! My family and even my husband have told me I look like I have lost weight but the scale has me only losing like 3 pounds. I am doing cardio and weights and recently got introduced to the WI gaming unit-boxing and tennis are workouts-sore for days afterwards and was able to play the game with my husband after the kids were in bed-wild date night!:)

Just a little piece of advice i recently got from a friend. She has been participating in a Weight Watchers type program, and one tip that they gave on eating out is having the kitchen/waiter/waitress box half your meal prior to bringing your meal to the table. I eat out once or twice a week, and this has really seemed to help. Maybe it's just me, but if it's not in front of me, then I won't eat it. I take the box home and eat the remainder for lunch the next day. Of coarse this only works if you like "left overs." ;-) Another thing, is that I had a serious conversation with my husband about eating better. It's easier to eat right if your partner isn't trying to get you to order the "pick 3 combo appetizer." Now we order salads, with minimal dressing. Hey, even a salad with a little dressing has GOT to be better than fried potato skins, wings, and onion petals.... all with dipping sauce.... right?!?! Nice to know that I'm not the only one out there trying to not only loose a few, but be healthier. RIGHT ON LADIES!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Oh gosh! Im depressed now! I havent done a damn thing to get ready for my swimsuit and I leave in a month. And I have some extra "winter wait" on me! Well I guess I will be the one with the cover-up on.......................;-( Congrats girls !! Keep up the good work! I am going to eat smaller portions and go walking at night. Maybe I will loose 5 pounds and then I can gain it back at the buffet and open bar in Cancun!!!!!

a1a2kw- I did the same thing as you did. I had a very serious conversation w/ my boyfriend and told him how important it was to me to eat right. Since then, when we eat out he won't ever suggest an appetizer, even if he wants one b/c he respects what I'm trying to do. Even at home he's no longer making crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, followed by shrimp penne ala vodka with garlic bread with red wine, and then some sort of yummy dessert. He now reads labels before buying and cooing : ) No apps, no dessert. No wine for me right now except for once a week. Yes, I am lucky he cooks for me (he won't let me cook, I'm terrible), but he wasn't a mind reader and now we're on the same page!

a1a2- you are so right about the support of the spouse-my husband has made me want to get healthy again-he has lost about 40-50 pounds in the last 8 months-who wants to be the chunky wife!:) goingwiththekids-you can sit next to me in my tankini and swimskirt-after a few cocktails we won't care!:) AS said before-keep up the great work everyone!

That's awesome Shelbs & krazy! It helped soo much for both of us to eat better together! I know he feels better, and so do I. Only a few pounds since after the holidays, but hey, a few is better than none! SO, on that note; Thank you gentlemen, for the love and support of us ladies!!

Wow! i'm really impressed by the dedication you guys are showing! now if we can get you all to switch gears from "i want to look good in a bikini this summer" to "i want to be fit and healthy all the time" we'll have made it somewhere! but alas, rome was not built in a day my friends. I work in an office where there's always some kind of temptation with food. If it's not birthday cake for someone, it's pizza for teh entire office. i dont touch the stuff, but it's unrealistic to think that i'll never eat cookies again or eat a piece of pizza. but you simply have to have the will power to control yourself in those situations. i, personally, choose to save my empty calories and cheat times for alcohal on the weekend. that peice of cake looks good, but that rum and cherry coke zero on friday night is a hell of a lot better. just as in most things in life, you gotta pick and choose your battles. too much of anything is not a good thing, and that goes for fitness too. rest is almost as important as your diet. I have a huuuuuge stigma in my mind about how much i weigh. I wrestled for years in school. the scale was never my friend. like most guys my age (27) i stopped doing most physical activities after high school. i'm paying the price now for it, but it's been such a spiritual and emotional journey to transform my body from 'kind of athletic' to ripped. the biggest hurdle to get over is getting started! and most of you have done that part!!! For those of you who have been at this for a few weeks/months, my best suggestion is to SWITCH IT UP! keep your body guessing. most ladies like cardio and that's great, just try different variations. use the elliptical and the stationary bike, the rowing machine, the stairmill. your body will adapt to the same constant program and you will hit a plateau in your training. incline walking on the treadmill is fantastic cardio and i do it myself 3 days a week. If you're incorporating weight training, do it before your cardio! you'll burn waaaay more fat if you do your cardio after you've done light weight training. all this talk makes me want to ditch work and hit the gym!

Thanks skycruiser for the advice. I am not really familiar with supplements therefore, I wouldn't know what to recommend. How many calories in the protein shakes? I was just wondering because a lot of men can afford the extra calories where women can't. You seem like you really know your stuff. I know where a lot of you are coming from saying muscle weighs more than fat, but I like to say muscle is more compact than fat. You know because 1 pound of fat = 1 pound of muscle, right? A pound is a pound is a pound. I know I'm being annoying, but that saying always bugged me so I tweeked it. Keep up the good work. I love to hear all the positive stories!
