yep we really tryed to like the place but the bad really out done the good!!!!only good thing was the spring float i found out from you... it was great!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear your vacation was a disaster. I was really grossed out by your report. I hope they get their act together by June 10!!

What I can't figure out is why the rooms aren't being cleaned daily and the bedding changed. I'm such a germ-a-phob, that this could ruin it for me. Honestly, I'm starting to freak out about this and wonder if they're even using clean sheets and towels when and if they do clean your room. One of the reasons I picked this hotel is that it looked very clean.

but the rooms in my opinion are really run down and not appealing at all...if u check your sheets you will notice they dont change them thats why i stripped down the bed my self and found the matress pad really bad and the walls are another story took pictures of the bugs and dirty hand prints etc...one day they were not get to the suites till after 8 pm to clean them diid it myself put the garbage out the door took clean towels from a cart etc...pretty bad when u gota clean your own room>>>

Well, I'm going armed with my enzyme spray! I take it with me wherever I go.

We just stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal in April. I didn't like the blanket (I usually don't), so they removed it, brought in a clean one and placed a sheet over it as a top cover. I am very fussy about bedding and towels. Maybe I'll bring paper towels and dry off with those.

Were there enough clean pool towels to go around?

The food I can get around, but a dirty room I can't tolerate.

Really, really sorry Connie. Hope you get something from your travel agent, even a partial credit for a future vacation.

This just reinforces the decision we made a few months ago to switch from the GRP. I've never been there, but have been to the "not so great resort" places and it's not worth anything to stay at them. You make the best of it, but who wants to spend their once a year/every few years vacation making the best of it? Or heading to Walmart to buy beer and soda?

What surprises me is how defensive people (who haven't even been to this resort) get when you give a bad review, talk about switching to another resort, or express discouragement at the bad reviews/opinions. Many of the bad reviews have been written by inteligent people who are easy to please and don't just randomly complain about simple things.

I'd say this place still has a long way to go.

What's the full name of GRP? I want to look at the reviews.

Good for you changing resorts. I highly recommend people who are prone to overreacting or stressing about every little thing do the same as you did. Piece of mind is a wonderful thing.

Count me in as being defensive if you wish. I'd rather call it staying optimistic and finding comfort in the majority of reporters who've enjoyed their stay, not the few who relate horror stories. But that's just my nature.
