We are hoping to take our teenage daughters to see John Mayer at the Molson Amphitheatre in July but there are only lawn seats left. Has anyone been at a concert there and sat on the lawn? Comments please.

You will not be disapointed. It's not covered so bring an umbrella just in case. Also bring a blanket. The lawn is nicely sloped so it's easy on the back, and you can fully recline. I much prefer to sitting in the seats, and you get a cool view of the TO skyline. Enjoy-We're seeing James Taylor this July.

mon~Your girls would probably prefer the lawn. Pray for a gorgeous evening, dress warmly as there's quite a breeze off the water (but you're Scottish so why am I telling you that!) and as already mentioned, a blanket or covering of some kind is necessary. It's first come as you might have surmised, so get there early for your choice of spots. On a clear night there's nothing better!

bro~The last concert we attended there JT was phenomenal----as usual. Have a good time! :)

Yo, Bro, I'm taking my two (aging!) sisters to see JT too; can't wait. One of 'em saw him last time, said it was phenomenal concert, the other one is the one who started us on his path with Sweet Baby James. Can't wait, actually; has been 1000 years since the last time I went to a live concert like this. No more flicking our bics in the dark, tho; now I guess we wave the 'berries...

Bro & Tobie, thanks for the advice. John Mayer tickets booked, closely followed by the flights! We are in Toronto for 10 days, but would prefer to spend a maximum of 7 in the city followed by somewhere out of town for the last 3 days to chill out. Perhaps a lakeside resort? Somewhere fairly upmarket. I don't think we are too fussy about going to Niagara Falls - perhaps too touristy for us and we did see some incredible falls in BC a couple of years ago... What about Muskoka Lakes area?

Muskoka is the place to go. I would recommend Deerhurst Resort at Huntsville. It's 2-1/2 drive from Toronto. Lots of both indoor and outdoor sports activities, pools, beach & lake, golf. Restaurants there as well as nearby. The town of Huntsville is good for browsing and eating.

mon~ as much as I agree about Niagara Falls being touristy, it is one of the natural wonders of the world and nothing in BC can match it for stunning beauty.

Have a look at these photos!

With 7 days in Toronto, I'd spend a day in Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake before leaving your hotel in Toronto since it's only 1.5 hrs away. And then spend the remainder of your time in Muskoka--- an excellent suggestion.

There are all kinds of resorts and Deerhurst is certainly lovely. We also like The Grandview which is close to Huntsville.

Here are some other sites about Muskoka and properties to consider:

Tobie is right, Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake is a must if you haven't been. I'm sure the falls you have seen elsewhere are nice but I wouldn't miss Niagara. NOTL is a pretty town with lots of spots to enjoy tea or wine or whatever else you fancy.

mon32.

I agree with Tobie and Beermonger. You have to see Niagara Falls, it is a phenomenal experience and I bet it will be the high light of your trip. Take your time looking at the Falls.. go on the Sky wheel and the Maid of the Mist and then head to gorgeous Niagara on the Lake, a beautiful area to spend time in.

The venue is pretty nice, I only been once, sat near the back of the 200's section, and I thought that was pretty far back, so I can't imagine the lawns. Bring binocluars.
