Planning a trip up to Montreal in late August for the film festival. I am from South Florida and have heard the nightlife and day life are magnifique!

What should I expect as to how the city may change when the festival is in town? Are the hotels booked?

Is there a lot of out of town folk?

Is Summer slow on the Club Scene?

Are there enough locals and tourist to keep the clubs going???

Smiles!

Don't mean to be rude but I come to Miami on a yearly basis and I have been to many clubs in your area and I am sorry to say that our clubs will never compare to yours! So that being said, you will be greatly dissapointed.

I appreciate your inputand honesty, I don't think you are being rude at all for stating your views.

I know what you mean but what I look for is the people and ambiance, not really a megascape club with all bells and whistles. I have met many Canadiens and thought very highly of them for being warm and friendly. Thus this is the reason for going to see for myself how you folks are in day/night, sample some of your cuisine and of course party.

Well, the Film Festival is AUGUST 26 TO SEPTEMBER 5, 2005 and I dont usually attend it, 2 years ago Robert Denire was in town for his movie "City by the Sea" and this man was just about everywhere in the city, I bumped into him at Sofia's on St Laurent. I dont know what the main attraction(movie) will be this year. Maybe someone else can you give more information about the festival, I myself prefer the Just for Laughs festival. Heres a website for the film fest: http://www.ffm-montreal.org/en_index.html

I dont think the hotels will be booked solid for that weekend, its not F1 weekend, I can tell you all about that weekend that just passed. If you are coming for the festival though, I highly suggest staying at the Wyndham Hotel, that hotel is the best situated to the festival and not too far from nightlife. Given that you are from Miami, I think you should stick to the St Laurent club scene, personally it would resemble a little more to the Sobe nightlife than Crescent st would LOL (sorry have to laugh at that one)

Summer is FAR from being slow on the club scene, it is actually the BEST for our club scene, it is so sad when it is over actually, I get a little depressed in all honesty hence why I need to move out of here!!!

You wil definitely see alot of out of town folk during the summer and of course during the festival but of course there will be no lack of local folk who are magnifique!
