We will be spending 2 or 3 days in Derry in mid-august. We would appreciate a recommendation of a couple off hotels downtown. many thanks Dan

Hi flynnsky

I live in Derry so I hope this is of some help.

If you want to stay right in the city centre, the City Hotel is in a good location and is quite modern - there is also parking there.

Da Vinci's (Ramada chain) is another popular hotel situated just outside the city centre (about 10-15 mins walk).

Alternatively, there is an elegant, old-fashioned hotel about 10mins drive from Derry city (the Beech Hill house Hotel). This would probably be the most expensive option.

I hope these suggestions help and i'm sure you'll have a great time and receive a warm welcome here in Derry (with any luck the weather will behave too!).

Thanks so much for your suggestions.I have looked at the City Hotel and that looks like the one for us.Having travelled to Ireland many times we have had all kinds of weather but always had a warm welcome and a terrific time. Cheers Dan

There's also the Tower Hotel which is inside the City walls and a Travelodge around the corner from the City Hotel. The Travelodge is a UK chain and is probably the cheapest hotel in the city.
