Blooming Wildflower Cottage Dingle |
|
I stayed in this accomodation over Easter 2006 and do not recommend it. Every time I needed heating or hot water I had to phone the owner to switch it on as there was no control in the apartment. The bathroom though private is not in the apartment and it is necessary to pass through communal areas (for other B&B guests) to access it. The impression given is that there is a private patio but this is used by other people particularly for cigarette smoking. The location is a good ten minute walk from the centre of Dingle - much further than most other accomodation. It is also on a very busy and noisy road with no very close parking. I had agreed with the owner to pay by credit card but was not allowed to on the day. When I complained about the inconvenience and expense of getting cash, the owner was extremely rude. |

I am very sorry that you had a horrible experience and hope it didn't spoil your holiday. Maybe you should write a review on this place and post it. My wife and I stayed a week at Blooming Wildflower Cottage. This was our second stay there. I feel it was probably the most relaxing and well prepared appartment we had stayed at in Ireland. Mind you, we were in Ireland for four weeks, so had a lot to compare. The hostesses, Tom and Marianne, had nice brown bread on the counter, a couple of Murphy's in the fridge and enough food to get us a day. That was more than expected.

Sorry you were disappointed. I read your review before I RETURNED to stay at Wildflower for the third time. It seems (from what Marianne told me this summer) that you would have found using the credit card much easier had it actually had YOUR name on it. If someone accepts a card that doesn't bear the user's name, and it turns out to be a fraud, the proprietor has to eat the expense. I wouldn't have taken it either. I've stayed both in the apartment on the ground floor well as in the en-suite room upstairs. Incidentally, the "common area" through which one must past to the bath room on the ground level is a short hallway. One of the rooms is directly across from it. I've always been happy staying at Wildflower, although you are correct regarding the busy road; it's only road into town from the west and is the road out to Slea Head, so the traffic can't be avoided. The upstairs room window is above the street. I use earplugs. BTW the parking is right across the street. Tom and Marianne are always pleasant and I look forward to seeing them when I'm in Ireland. Do watch for Lizzy though. She's a lovely, white cat who only likes being petted on HER terms.
