Hoi Monique : )

If you do not get suggestions for cheap accomodation in Lisdoonvarna itself, you might want to consider staying in the tiny village of Doolin - there are 4 youth hostels and 3 pubs there, only 8 km from the Cliffs of Moher. I have stayed at the small Aille River Hostel myself (see the reviews on this site), and enjoyed very much its comfort, its turf fire, and its friendly managers. There is a regular Buseireann service between the Cliffs, Doolin and Lisdoonvarna (going from and to Galway).

Monique - the matchmaking festival is on in September and October and takes place at the weekends only.

The town will be very busy. The only alternative to hotels are B&Bs.

Take a look at www.ireland.ie and go to the accommodation section. You might be able to get something there.

monique, I hope you get nice accommodation either in Lisdoonvarna or Doolin. But please be prepared for having to pay a "single supplement" even in a B&B. This means that you're kind of penalised for not being "two persons" in a double or twin room. This single supplement pushes up the price of accommodation, in most cases you pay more for single occupancy than for sharing a room with someone else.

I hope you'll have fun, though. Oh, those Irish farmers...

: )))

Monique: NEE NEE NEE!!!! U kan niet te oud zein voor en jeughderberg!!!! There are no age limits, and there are people of all ages staying there. Aille River being a small hostel, a single traveller feels more comfortable than in one of the bigger hostels there are in Doolin, who welcome the partying young tourists on organized tours. They even have some private rooms. Beds are comfy, and made of wood (not the usual sky high metal bunkbeds). You can cook your own meals, and internet + laundry are free.
