Our trip to Big Sur is planned for Aug 3-5. What can we expect re the amount of smoke in the air? Are accommodations in the area still open for business? If you have been in the past week or live in the Big Sure/Monterey/Carmel area I would appreciate your thoughts. We need to act soon if we are going to change travel arrangements.

Conditions in Big Sur are fine. Most everything (business wise) has re-opened. If you want to see what the air quality is like in Big Sur, check out the webcam at Nepenthe @ www.nepenthebigsur.com, but keep in mind that mornings may show foggy conditions. You'll have better views in the afternoon... Pacific Time.
