I am looking at their website and they have pretty good rates

Not heard of them before and wondering if anyone had used them?

Yes I used Drivenow in February in sydney and the gold coast, no problems, I also booked as they were the best rates

The cheapest cars were from thrifty in fact they beat thriftys own rates

Would book them again

I'm a frequent car renter and keen bargain hunter. drivenow.com.au is rarely much cheaper than renting directly. www.britz.com.au aims at the backpacker market and campervan types, but they also rent cars - all through Thrifty. You get a Thrifty vehicle at up to $20 a day cheaper than Thrifty's own rates. Big advantage is that excess reduction is included in their quotes whereas the major companies have it as an additional "hidden" cost.

Another tip is just to google "discount coupon" and the name of any or all of the major rental companies to find magic numbers to plug into their online booking engines. these often knock 10-20% off the rate. Just say you forgot to bring the coupon when you pick up the car. Dishonest? Probably. But ripping off multinational companies is hardly immoral :-)

thanks for your help. I ended up booking with drivenow - got a car through Hertz which was the cheapest available. In fact I am a travel agent and even though I can get discounts from car hire companies this was the cheapest way of booking!
