Thanks!

Thanks Ellemay.

I´m reading many notes here and there, in magazines and sites about The Observatory.

What do you think about this Hotel?

Thanks again!!!

I really love the Observatory but despite its location it does not offer "view" rooms due to the style of the building.

In terms of "trendy" cool I think the Intercontinental Club floor Harbourview are best. Four Seasons are just another hotel room with a great view and the Shangri la is pretty much the same but with bigger rooms.

As G/W mentioned the Observatory is lovely but it has no views...its a gorgeous boutique smallish hotel with comfort and class. It also houses a fabulous Day Spa for any special treatments/ massages etc.etc.

No views either..it is in the shopping rather than tourist zone.

I have the same question as the OP. I was considering the Four Seasons as I'm a big FS fan, and I want a very nice room with view of the harbor and/or opera house. But the reviews are decidely mixed. So what's the better option? Park Hyatt? Is it really worth the much larger tariff over the FS?

I'm bumping this hoping maybe someone has a good, recent comparison of the FS and the Park Hyatt and whether it's worth the additional $ to spring for the Park Hyatt.

Shea,

I don't think the Park Hyatt is worth the extra but the FS here isn't a patch on some of the others we've stayed in, Prague and Geneva as eg. I have to admit we only had a Grand harbour view room at FS and maybe for the same price as basic park Hyatt you could get a nice corner suite at FS.

I haven't stayed at the Hyatt but last time we went in the foyer we were treated with disdain by the doorman, maybe becuase of our Aussie accent? I also don't like the way the ferry commuters can look straight into the windows of some of the rooms. The room we were visiting was quite dark and for $650 no view I didn't think it was worth the $$
