My wife and I are travelling to Slovakia the first week in August 08 and plan to stay 1 day in Kosice.

I have been trying to find a pension or a budget hotel in or very near the historic centre. I have mailed 3 or 4 pensions, even through the slovakiaholiday website. I cannot get even a reply from any of them.

Can anyone suggest a decent, budget place to stay. We expect to pay up to 100 U$S dollars for a room with private bathroom. The place should be suitable for seniors.

Thanks for any suggestion.

By 'suitable for seniors', do you mean with a lift? I can think of three or four in your price range very close to the centre (in the centre, actually), but they all have stairs and no lift.

Pension Platz is good, in Dominican Square and is 1500,-SKK for a large ensuite room. However, there's a flight of stairs up to reception and then another up to the rooms.

I'd happily book it for you - it's only a phone call. If you want, send me a PM?

Thanks. I should have been more explicit. There;s no problem with stairs; we are still very active. I just meant we did not want a noisy party place. (Nothing wrong with that, it's just we've past that age.)

I've been trying unsuccessfully to contact Pension Platz to make a booking. I did not get any reply.

We'd be very happy if you can book this or a similar place for us.

Check in: Thu 7 August 08

Check out: Fri 8 August 08 (1 night)

Thanks

Hi,

No problem. Could you send me a PM (click on my name, then 'send message') and let me have your name and approximate arrival time and I'll book it for you.

I've just thought - did you try Pension Slovakia? They're a bit newer and in a quieter position. There's sometimes noise quite early in the morning in Pension Platz because it's in a marketplace and they set up quite early in the morning.
