need advice on how to get from Mar to Ess to Casa |
|
Hi! First time using the blogs - hope it works! We are 2 women planning on visiting Morocco Sept 8th-14th. In Marrakesh from 8th-11th - then want to do 1 day Essouira and 1 day Ouilidia before flying out of Casablanca. I know we can take the Suprabus to get to Essouira from Marrakesh - and a bus from Ouilidia to Casablanca - but I need help on how to get from Essouira to Casablanca. I am thinking it would be easier to rent a grands taxi? Does anyone know how to do this and how much it might cost and how long it takes? Also need advice on the best high atlas day trip out of Marrakesh - I heard there are some pretty spectacular waterfalls and kasbahs you can do in 1 day...please help! |

I would say "nice" waterfalls, not "spectacular." Also depends on the time of year and whether there was a lot of rain or not. Grand taxi is an easy choice. You can rent the entire taxi through your hotel and it will be more pleasant than sharing a grand taxi with you two plus five others. Gets a little chummy. There should also be a CTM or Supratours from Essaouira to Casablanca. Either of those would be great. Avoid local busses.

Thanks for the posts - does anyone recommend renting a car and driving Marrakesh - Essouira - Ouilidia - Casablanca? How long does it take to get between Essouira and Casablanca as I've heard anywhere from 2-6 hours!

notes on Essa to Cassa as follows "Leaving Essaouira without replicating the Marrakech route required negotiation by the proprietors as the journey to Casablanca along the coast is over 5 hours and a Grande Taxi was arranged. A fee of 1200 Dirham’s ($200) for 4 persons in a 25 year old 250D Mercedes seemed a risky conveyance but a worthy experience as the driver spoke some English. Four large bags were strapped in the boot, one bag acting as a counter balance and any trepidation by the female passengers evaporated as the competency, comfort and ease of the driver emerged. Car rental is very expensive in Morocco. It is probably the best way since you are in complete control of your schedule. If you can afford the price, just book a car online and pick it up when you get there.
