Hotel in Aswan for Day |
|
We are coming off a Nilecruise and have a trip to Abu Simbel early morning and should be back in Aswan around ll:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m. Our flight to Cairo does not leave till late that night, and I was wondering if we could rent a hotel room for the day to relax and stay around the pool till our flight late that evening.
We're looking for a very nice hotel and pool 5*. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Either of the hotels on Elephantine, the Isis or the Movenpic, or the Basma. The Old Cataract is probably closed then, though you don't say when this is exactly. I should imagine your tour company could quote you for a room if you don't feel like arranging it yourself.

I have stayed at the Pyramisa Isis Island hotel, stayed for 3 nights and thought it was great. But I think you need a room in the main hotel, ours was great, but I have read reviews from people who had room not in the main hotel who wasn't pleased. It has two pools the one near the Italian restaurant is best. Although it is a big hotel we found it quiet and relaxing. There is also a Pyramisa Isis on the Cornishe I have read good and bad reports on that hotel. Booked the hotel through hotels4u.com. Paid £85 for 3 nights B&B. Phil

Thank You Verity1 and Phil900, It looks like the Pyramisa Isis Island has the nicest pool area. I will request a room in the main hotel near he Italian Restaurant. My other option was to leave the cruise ship and go to Abul Simbel at ll:00 a.m. and arrive back in Aswan in the evening in time to catch our flight back to Cairo. We are going in September, and I'm worried it will be too hot.....and they say sunrise at Abu Simbel is spectacular. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We went at the end of April and were one of the first coaches to arrive at Abu Simbel at around 7.00am and the sun had been up I think for over an hour, and I think it will be about the same in Sept, 5 - 6am. It was nice though getting there first and seeing it without lots of tourist, but that soon changed. The chaps on the entrance to the tombs have a big gold key to open the doors. They offer it to some tourist to take a picture with, with some bakshee of course. Phil
