From where?

From central Jakarta it really depends on traffic and traffic depends on when you go.

If you go early in the morning in the middle of the week as little as an hour and a half.

If you go on the weekend maybe 3 or more.

You could probably get someone to do a return trip with waiting time for 300-400,000 rupiah.

Yeahhhhhhh........

As Camsean truly mentioned getting there on weekend is a suicidal activity. And as additional question - what is your purpose over there?

safari park

or simply enjoy the view of tea plantations????????

As we are from Africa we are not interested in the Safari Park and just thought it would be nice to get out of Jakarta for a day as we have three full days there. Thought it would be nice to get out into the country and see the tea plantations. Is it worth it? We are not really city slickers and with small kids Jakarta does not seem like a very tourist friendly place. We are then off to Bali for the 5 th time! Is it possible to visit the thousand islands for a day?

Yes,

Pulau Seribu (thousand island for a day) sounds better. Every island open for public (the majority are private ones) has *one day trip option*. Check

for details.

You could also just go up to Bogor which is at the start of the route that goes through Puncak.

The bottanical gardens there are very nice for a wander around and the kids could run around and play.

You can get an air condtioned train from Gambir station in central Jakarta to Bogor. It takes just over an hour
