Lima to Santiago de Chile- flight times what to do?? |
|
Im arriving in Lima from Arequipa at 7.30 am and had hoped to connect with a flight to Santiago de Chile straight away. Unfortuantly the next flight doesnt seem to be until 8.30pm which leaves me with a day hanging around Lima - Id prefer to have this time in Santiago if possible. I checked LAN PEru adn TACA airlines and most flights seem to leave very early morning or middle of the night. First of all are there other airlines I should check for better times and secondly can anyone advise me if I can leave my bags in Lima airport and what could I easily do for a day in Lima? Would it be possible to see the Nazca Lines? |
|
Lan has flight 5945 departing Lima at 15:15 every day. You do not have the time to go all the way to the Nazca Lines, which are 450 kms away from Lima. You will find a baggage storage section right next to the National Flight arrival area.

Xochitl, thanks for your excellent information again. I cannot find a flight on LAN.com that flies from Lima to Santiago in the afternoonn. The ones listed go at 7.30 am, then 20.30pm, oo.30 am and 01.05 - Ive even searched the site using theflight number you quoted and it hasnt come up. HelP!

The flights are listed as LP ( Lan Peru ) departing from Lima at 15:15 and arriving Santiago at 1940.Price is US$ 302 plus taxes. I suggest you phone them and ask about flights numbers : LP 5945 and LP643

Hi Skigirl, Unfortunately you are correct. There is no longer a LAN flight Lima --> Santiago de Chile at 3.15pm.(or at least not in September). We just yesterday received notification for our change of flight on the 26th Sept. So we are now left with a 12hr layover in Santiago which we had not planned for (Not happy :() Cheers Tracey

Hey there, Im just after getting off the phone to Lan (wish Id read your post first!) and they confirmed that the website is correct with no flights scheduled in the afternoon. The prices are also very high she quoted me 800$ for a single Lima Santiago and to cap it all ooks like Im stuck with a 12 hour stopover in Lima I didnt want!

skigirl, If your're travelling to SA with LAN or a one world partner you should look at the SA airpass as sometimes this works out cheaper. Check the LAN website. You need to book at least 2 weeks before you depart on your international flight and must book at least 3 sectors. Hope this helps Cheers Tracey

Skigirl, I can answer your question about leaving bags at Lima airport because I had this same question myself last week. I got on the Lima airport website and emailed them about it - they do have a left luggage office. You can either leave bags on a shelf in the warehouse for 14soles/day (didn't sound too secure)or in a locker for 28soles/day. I can't remember how big the lockers are sorry but it was quite large. They have 2 keys for the locker - you get one and they keep one. Website for Lima airport: www.lap.com.pe scroll down and click on the little English flag in the bottom right corner for English version if you don't speak Spanish.

Shesoffagain, thanks for the tip about the bags. Looks like Ill be there for a while so will have to squeeze my rucksac into the locker! Tripping around, thanks for that idea but I actually booked a return flight and reduced the cost by 150 euros - I just wont be using the return portion as Im flying to Australia from SA.Now I just have to figure out what to do in Lima for a day - Ill be straight off the Colca Canyon trek so may just curl up and sleep in a cornor!
