Hello! Never been to Peru before....Some people say don't buy any tickets to anything until you get there....some say you must buy it all ahead online. If you have been there, can you tell me how it really is?

Also, I keep hearing the prices are better when you are in Peru, but is that true for plane tickets and the train to Macchu Picchu, or should I just be ordering on Go2Peru or someplace like that? It looks like it will be a thousand or 2 just for plane and train tickets....it has me worried!

THANKS for any advice!

for flights within Peru try the homepage of lanperu.com - than earlier you book and pay the better the rate!

If you have a lot of time to stay or wait, you can book in Peru itself! ;-)

Look to see if the $36 + tax = $236 fare from Los Angeles to Lima still might be available. And if you add Lima to Cuzco the fare only goes up to $240! I grabbed this on April 1 (no joke!) for Sep 20-28.

It is with Avianca to Lima then TACA from Lima to Cuzco.

You haven't said when you are going and I planned well in advance about 9 months and paid $162 for 3 internal flights with Lan . Go onto the website and see what they are offerring bearing in mind they changed 2 of the times on us to earlier flights.

My sons were to travel from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado today on tickets purchased thraought Go2Peru. The flight was cancelled 15 minutes before flight time with no explanation, and Go2Peru refuses to refund the money - they said it was weather (weather was nice though - no rain or wind) The next flight out left within the hour but was full, as were both flights tomorrow. LAN said that they were refunding their customers, but since I bought through a travel agent, the travel agent would have to refund us, and Go2Peru refuses to refund us. DO NOT USE Go2PERU!!!!!

I was trying to book flights from Lima to Cusco on the LAN airlines site, and discovered that the prices on LAN's US site are MORE THAN DOUBLE the prices for the same flights on LAN's Peruvian site.

I don't know if this is an temporary error, or an intentional attempt to wring the most dollars possible out of Americans.

It's not easy to find the Peruvian site from a US computer. It is http://plane.lan.com/index-es-pe.html

Hi! We are going to Peru in December and flying from Lima to Cuzco. We were going to fly on LAN until my cousin suggested Star Peru, which is what she took back in April. It was cheaper than LAN.

We actually tried booking with them online, but had a problem with the website, so we had to resolve via telephone to their office in Miami.

I flew Lima to Cusco on TACA. There is only 1 flight per day in the early morning, but the price was significantly less ($65) and it's a great, established airline.
