Location: Juma Al Majid Building. Opposite Sheeba Electronics & Next to India House Restaurant. Bur Dubai

I visited Dubai from 25 March for 5 nights and planned to have a suit made. I did all my research prior to leaving and had a list of about 3 different Tailors, including Lobo's, Kachins and Dream Girls.

Firstly, I visited Lobo's who said that they did not have enough time, Kachins refused to use the material I had taken with me and & Dream Girls were just rude.

Then we came upon Santoba's by pure luck and how fortunate this turned out to be. We was greeted by Prakash and the guys and from the very start the guys were very friendly and very honest. We advised them of our scenario, i.e we was only visiting for a few days and wanted suits made.

In a space of an hour or so we had chosen our materials for our suits and shirts, had been measured and were asked to return 2 days later for a fitting.

We returned for our fitting and the suit templates had been created, which we tried on. The master tailor was there and made any small ammendments that were required. Believe it or not our shirts had been completed and we could have taken them away right then. After the fitting we agreed that we would return 2 days later to pick up our suits.

2 days later we arrived again, and low and behold there were our suits completed, with some exquisite detail. Again we had a complete fitting in the presence of the master tailor and I really couldnt fault anything.

Being an owner of a few tailored suits and shirts I was astounded at the quality and quickness of the work these guys carried out. To such an extent that my friend ordered another suit before we left and I ordered another 2 shirts to be delivered here to the UK.

I couldnt recommend these guys highly enough. So if anyone is heading out to Dubai and wants some tailoring done, you will not go wrong with Santoba's Tailors.

Hi bills 23

I'm really interested in your tailor post,

we will be stopping off in dubai for a couple of nights on way back from oz in august. Not planning to do much apart from chill in pool and admire the skyline.

Would love a link for Santoba's tailors, google search fruitless. We will only be in dubai for a three days its wide necked slim waist fit shirts we are after(my partner and i both have tall wide necked slim waisted rugby playing sons) and the only gift they have asked for from our travels are a couple of shirts that are slim fit, we may be better to send measurements and order on line.

thanks hope you can help

Hi Bills23 ,

Thanks for your informative post. Without wishing to be rude, can you please give an idea of indicative costs for this tailor ? The shirts sound particularly interesting - would the compare in quality to Thomas Pink perhaps ? Hoping to visit Dubai in June so Santoba sounds like a must visit !

Hi Bills

Can I ask in what way were Dreamgirl Tailors rude? My family and I have used them without complaint for over 30 years and I cannot understand why they would be rude to you. I will certainly let them know on my next visit that they have let themselves down.

I feel a bit responsible as I always recommend Dreamgirls on here, as like I mentioned, no problems for a very long time.

This is a response to jaynie_d :

This is the link to the tailors, but the website is under constrcution so wont be of much use.

http://santobatailors.com/

The guys can definitly tailor the shirts in that space of time, but you must visit them early on in your trip to allow time for the shirts to be made.

Im assuming your sons wont be with you, so what you may want to do is get their measurements beforehand.

If you look on the web, im sure you can get details of how and what to measure for a shirt.

Hope this helps

This is a repy to Dizz :

The cost of the shirts is about £30 and that is inclusive of the material. The price may be slightly cheaper, depending on your size.

For the suits your talking about £100 for the tailoring, and anything between £75 to £200 for the material. I chose some very good material and it cost me about £150.

Hope that helps.

This is a response to hannahengland :

Hannah, upon visiting Dream Girls at first I was told they didnt have enough time, to which I said no problem. This was quickly follwed on by someone else saying that No, they did have time and they could do it. However they said that the material I had was not enough so I said no probs I would get some more.

When leaving the shop, one of the guys said to the other, "How in the hell are you going to make a suit in that short space of time", to which the other guy responded "Not to worry, they are only foreigners, what do they know about suits."....

Now this conversation took place in the Hindi language, which I am fluent in and as you can imagine really put me off returning to the place.

This may have been a one off, so I hope my expereince doesnt put anyone else off.

Well Bills have to say I'm gobsmacked, I've never known them to be anything other than very polite and curteous. My Dad speaks several languages and he has never complained about them talking behind peoples backs. Then again he lives in Dubai so as you say they may have thought you were a dumb tourist.

Going to Dubai in August and am planning to get a number of shirts made. Read most of the posts on here regarding tailors and due to time constraints (only there 6 days) plan to visit Santobas tailors the first day to get the shirts made. Does anybody have an Email address or telephone number for these tailors that I can use to contact them on?. The Email address/link listed in the post seems to default to a more general listing.

Thanks in advance for your help.
