What you have all been waiting for, the Westin! |
|
Internet access is not up and running yet at the Westin so I am sitting in the foyer of the Meridien sending this TR. The hotel is beautiful, cream marble everywhere. Rooms - We had booked a deluxe sea view and the room was allocated at the furthest away tower, trying to find the lifts is difficult, it's a bit like a maze so my advice would be to request a room near the lift or you are going to have a long walk! We asked to be moved and we were given an executive club room which is exactly the same but you have access to the Club Lounge (this isn't opened yet). The rooms are beautiful, everything you need, bathrobes, slippers, tea and coffee etc. Grounds - The grounds of the hotel and pool area are fantastic, i think there are 4 pools and they have a river with bridges going over it, you can swim all the way down to the swim up bar! They are still doing work around the pool, installing the pool showers and other work. The kids pool is great as it is covered and is shallow. Restaurants - If you are on a half board basis you eat in the Blue Orange Restaurant. Food is fantastic, they have all different kinds of food to choose from, Chinese, Arabic, International (Buffet Style) The half board is a bit of a con because if you eat in any of the other restaurants you only get 60 AED per person and 30AED for kids credit! Bussola - This is the Italian Restaurant which we ate in tonight, the upstairs is al fresco and just serves pizza, the downstairs is fine dining. Book early though as it is very popular. The staff are all very nice but I think they have a lot to learn to come up to the standards of the other hotels. Kids Club not opened yet either, you can use the Penguin Club next door at the Meridien. Will post photographs when we get back.

Hi I'm flying out to the Westin on 6th June for a week and would be grateful for hints and tips you can give! I've previously stayed in Le Royal Meridien and was treated like a princess so am hoping the stay is upto scratch! Thanks for any help you can provide!

sooScotland! You are really lovely to take time out of your precious holiday to keep us updated! I think we have the same outlook as you! We will make the best of what we've got. Hubbie and I will give the option to the kids (7 & 4) to go to kids club in Meridien but like your 4 yr old, mine will be happy by the pool all day. Thanks again! Have a safe trip back!
