The 5 of us were off by 9:30 Thursday morning. Just a break light or two on the Belt but smooth sailing from then on and we arrived at Showboat at 12:30. Went check and to our surprise we got connecting rooms in the Bourbon Tower. We got our keys and it was off to the Borgata.

My girlfriend Maria and I went with half the money we usually go with since we've been on a "gambling spree" for the past few months and we said, when it's gone, it's gone. Maria and I play partners. We usually bring the same amount and if anyone one of us hits on a machine or gets a straight flush in 3 card, we split. I'm not talking walking away from a machine with $50 or $60, but if we hit over $100, we split it. Upon arrival we put a 20 in the Blazing 7's $1 slots, the one's when you walk in the front door and low and behold on my second spin, I hit for $200. Nice start. I give Maria her $100 and we sit down at 3 Card with $200 buy in. We played for about 2 hours and left the table about a 100 down. We played VP for about an hour and down another 100, not bad considering we play hard and fast. (sounds good, huh?) We met up with the girls, got a $100 comp for the Metropolitian and had some great burgers and headed back to the Showboat.

I'm going to continue in a reply...

We haven't stayed at the Showboat in about 5 years, we started getting good comps, Friday rooms and a host at the Taj so we switched casinos. For the past year we have had nothing but problems at the Taj so we decided to try the Showboat again. I was impressed with rooms in the Bourbon Towers, easy casino access and the rooms were updated with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and a flat panel TV, but I must admit, we only spent about 4 hours in the room. We then headed over to the Taj. I had $150 in cashback and my son gave me $20 to put in his Quick Hit's ATM. I put my hundred in the Quick hits first and it was disappearing fast. I was down to about 20.00 when I finally got the bonus. I ended up with over 14,000 credits, I couldn't believe I won over $800.00 on the bonus spins, I cashed out and went to my play my son's 20.00. I cashed out with 60.00 for him and it was off to Resorts for the Legends show. We had so much fun. This time it was Barry White, Dolly Parton, Tom Jones, Justin Timberlake (I just love him!!) and of course "Fat" Elvis. They were excellent as always and the last time we saw Elvis at the Hilton, he had the flu and I've seen the Tom Jones last summer at Resorts.

We had 9pm reservations at Mark Anthony's in the Taj our "food poisoning" pay back, and the food was excellent. after dinner we played our ELvis machines for a while, nothing so it was back to the Showboat for some nightime fun. I must say the the casino's were empty all day and at night, except for the tables, it was like a ghost town. I've never heard the casinos so quiet or look so empty. We were approached by people for money and ciggarettes at the Taj again. It's probably because we were playing in the area just off the boardwalk, so it's easy for people to come in and leave quickly without being noticed. Still, we felt a little uneasy.

Played at the Showboat until about 430am, held our own at the tables and the machines, no big wins but up a little , down a little. We woke up by 7:30 and tried to get a few hours in before we were to meet at 11:00 for breakfast at the Mansion. Coffee at the Showboat is awful but I found if you ask for a shot of esspresso in your coffee it's much better. Well we couldn't hit anything today. We should have slept a few more hours and I would have come home a lot richer and much less cranky due to only 3 hours of sleep. The 5 hour drive home didn't help the situation.

The girls and I had a great time, even if coming home without any of winners is becoming played out. We are planning our trip to Vegas in September and we think we'll lay low for the summer, but don't quote me on that.

Aquarius, I kept telling Maria about "my friend" who hit on the Quick Hits at MS twice and the Borgata yada yada yada. She thought we knew each other from work or something. When I told here it was a friend I met on the board, she thought I had too much time on my hands. LOL.

What denomination were you playing at the Taj? I think I might take a ride tonite & check out the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods. I'll report back if I do.

Judy,

Let us know what you think of MGM if you do go.

RN,

Great score on quick hits. I played those and the blazing 7s by the Living Room and couldn't hit nothing.

Shauna,

If I wake up early, I'll go. I'd like to get there around 7 a.m. or so when it's quiet. If I'm gonna do that I need to wake up at 5. I do that every day but I'm not going to set an alarm so we'll see. I did a lot of work outside today so who knows.

I'm now on a mission to find out how to get to the Belmont Stakes, stay there, and watch history in the making.

Judy, Belmont Park is not overnight traveler friendly. The location is in a rough area, though easy access to the parkway. I used to live down the block from Belmont Racetrace, so if you need any help let me know.

Nothing like a Triple Crown day at Belmont. My husband and I used to have a big Belmont Stakes bar-ba-cue every year. (we were one of the first couples in our crowd to own a house). We even rented out our basement appt. to a trainer who won the stakes for a few years in a row.
