From what I remember Sosua by the Sea was previously owned by someone from Canada already. So you're saying that it was sold to someone else while you were there recently? Maybe that was what all the renovations were for. I have to say it looked great last year when we were there. I'm going to check out the website now.

And yes madfordr (cool name!), that's correct, it's a Canadian outfit that bought the property and the brochure they gave to all the guests details very elaborate plans indeed, including buying the properties directly across the street from the hotel and building an annex to the hotel, having a private roof terrace with jacuzzis and a full-service spa.

I was told by the representative that their goal is to upgrade the hotel to at least a 4 star establishment and that those who sign up early for the timeshares will get special rates... Sounds very appealing and certainly exciting for visitors to Sosua!

I'm just happy that all those wonderful employees will remain as they're not hotel workers to me after 5 years, they're more like family... :-)

Great pictures!!!!! Can't wait for your post. I am also glad to hear that the employees wwill be keeping there jobs, I know one of the people that work there and it's good to know she will still be there.

Hi, My boyfriend & I went last September & we have booked it again for the beginning of october this year.

I just wondered if anyone knew if they are doing the refurbs at the moment or during the Oct period as we would rather know in advance if it's going to be noisy/a pain?

As noted when I spoke to the representative from Solaz, she gave me the impression that the renovations would commence in the very near future.

Not sure what that means for your vacation, but it wouldn't hurt to ask about the details here...
