Where can I rent fishing poles (what kind and how much?), bait (what kind), do I need license, are there certain hours only, etc.

yes you need a license if 16 and older. Best fishing is at Balboa Pier. My son fishes there all the time and catches many fish each time. He uses anchovies and squid. There is a place across the street which is actually a liquor store that sells the bait. I dont know of any rental for poles. You might have to buy one at a sports store while you buy your fishing license. Fishing is not good at Huntington Beach.

On second thought (not sure if they are still there) Check into, "Let's Go Fishing" 714-960-1392. they rent rod and reels, bait and tackle. This is in Huntington Beach.

I will ask the marine safety officers tomorrow for a definite answer. Debbie Stock's pages might be outdated. :)
